Hey guys, does anyone know what brand the stock fuel filter is? Is it AC Delco, if so thats not what it was. I just replaced mine and it looks like it had a sticker on it similar to the yellow ones on the fuel lines themselves. I am hoping that it wasn't the stock filter since the truck has 110k on it.
Also, there appears to be a gas leak somewhere because there was some on the bottom of the tank. Can a clogged fuel filter cause this? Its not a huge leak, but its a leak nonetheless.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes a clogged filter can cause a leak, If no one else knows what type of filter just go to the dealership and maybe they could help you find the right one or any shop could help but yeah if you have a fuel leak the first thing I would check would be the filter.

I already replaced the filter so I don't need to find out what one to get, I just wanted to check to see if it was still the stock one that I just replaced. (It was not an AC Delco brand though which would be my intial guess as to the stock brand)
Thanks though. I wiped down the bottom of the tank so I guess we will see if that stops the leak.

the sticker tells me its stock. the brand? hmm thats a good question i would ASS-u-ME it would be ACdelco. dont think you would find any stamp or anything on a factory filter. pennies make dollars ETC ETC and the stamping costs money. the sticker i belive says im from the factory.
GL with the fuel leak.

Napa has a replacement fuel filter for the earlier years, those with an external filter, for like $20 ($20.29 online) .... a whole lot cheaper than what the dealer gets for one. Their parts catalog has the correct part listed, also a good place to buy lug bolts when you break them. (I bought a box of 20 for about the price of 2-3 from the dealer).
Edit: The fuel filter number from Napa is 3129.

Factory ACDelco and store bought ACDelco are two different animals. Both good, but not the same. I've never seen an aftermarket inline gas filter I didn't like. They are all good.

So does anyone have any ideas on what I can check for where the fuel leak is coming from? I can still smell gas after replacing the fuel filter so I think its leaking somewhere?
It doesn't seem to be leaking a ton, but it is leaking nonetheless. Could it be the infamous filler neck? If so, can that be replaced alone, or does it usually break in a manner that you need to replace the whole tank?

I just bought one from my dealer for $24 - problem is that it has no markings on it - don't know which way is on or out - anyone out there with an 02 with a pic of how the filter should sit?
