I read on another forum that they dealerships would begin taking orders for the SS again on 9/23. So, did they? Does this mean production has finally begun???

From the sources I've been in contact with, we should see the SS "trickling in" beginning Mid October to mid november the latest.
What has been explained to me is that when they up the ante on the SS it subjects the frame to more stress and they had to reinforce it - they said it's pretty common when releasing a vehicle with a bigger engine said it most recently happened with the camaro.
We will start seeing them soon

I don't know how, but when my friend went to Saudi Arabia, he said that there were SS's at the dealer. He even took pics and got to drive it. he said that they were selling them, not just for show :undecided

Sadly, I saw a couple sources quoted as saying early January now for the first deliveries. If that is the case, that is going to kill it for me, I have to get something done by mid-November at the latest. Interesting but not suprising about the frame reinforcement, but I had heard from several sources that the holdup was due to rear-end whine caused by a supplier snafu.

Spoke to my buddy who owns the local Chevy dealership. He said late November/Early December is realistic. Got my name at the top of the list.

The "engineering stop" has not been lifted. They are working to correct "the problem". Don't expect any to be built before November. Think late November/ early December is realistic.

Thanks for the update. Whats your source for this info? :undecided
Unfortunately, time was a constraint in my case, so I had to cancel my order and ordered an '06 Envoy Denali instead. Just picked it up this morning. The 5.3L in the Denali is nice, but the 6.0L is a monster and will be worth the wait for those of you who can afford the time.
Bummed that the TBSS didn't work out for me, but the Denali is a very nice truck - so no complaints from me!

GM will no doubt lose some sales because of the slow release of the TB SS. But it is important for GM to "get it right" or risk too much negative criticism by putting out a less than correct truck. It does seem like it is taking a long time to get this into production. By the time it is on the street it will be Winter and poor weather. Not such a good time to get a performance truck launched. :m2:

Mine supposedly is scheduled for build the week of October 17. Dealer tells me should be in by EOM--hope he is correct.
