It will be louder and the drone at cruising speed will drive you nuts as it resonates throughout the cab. Then you will say, "Ah that's why they put it there! :D

I cut it off 2weeks ago love the new sound....not much louder than stock, but it does have a diff. sound at idle. I like it...until I change the muffler it will do...p.s. the wife didn't even notice when we went out with the kids the other day.

I cut it as close to the resonator as I could so I can add a "turn down" later so the heat won't damage the body. I can send pics if you like

:) Jay thanks for putting the exhaust notes I've heard them and I think I might as well just replace the muffler and removed the resonator too. I'm going after V8 humble is there any mufflers you recommend???

:) Jay thanks for putting the exhaust notes I've heard them and they sound good just about stock but I just might as well replace the whole muffler and take out the bulky resonator too. I'm going after the V8 humble. Is there any mufflers you recommend???

I am in the same boat as you, I have not replaced the factor muffler yet. I am leaning towards a magnaflow but with that I will need to get an extention since the factory muffler is about 2 feet long and the one I was looking at was only 19" tip to tip. But the best route would be to add the new muffler and get all new out the back of truck.

I read a lot of threads on here and decided to go with a Flowmaster 50 SUV series. A muffler shop installed it. I took it for a drive and it sounded good, but i didnt drive it at a steady 55mph. I went back and had the resonator removed and a glass pack with stainless tip installed. Some said not to remove resonator, they were right, at cruising speeds it drove me nuts, noisy, from 1500 to 1900 rpm. I went back a couple weeks later and they removed the glass pack and installed a turbo muffler in its place and put the tip back on. It sounds great. Still a little drone at 1600 to 1800 rpm, but no where as bad as before. I wish I would have try it just with Flowmaster and a tip on the resonater. But I love it the way it is.
