Hey guys, well I have a gas leak in the Bravada. I changed the fuel filter hoping it was just a clogged filter, but no such luck. It looks like the leak is coming from the front of the tank (closest to the hood) and on top of the tank. My question is, what lines run up above the tank and are they common to develop leaks?
Thanks guys

Fuel filler neck is a common crack/break point.

Yes, but the fuel filler neck is at the rear of the tank which the leak is not coming from.

That's not good news ..... :( Sometime the gas travels but you seem to feel that's not the case. I've read about the sending unit leaking and then the tank just cracking on the plastic tanks.

I am hoping it is as simple as a hose clamp coming off or something since everything is rubber or plastic.

As the lucky owner of a new fuel tank ($800) I can say that the design has many flaws. My tank was cracked at the fuel filler neck and towards the front of the tank as well. Never bashed the tank, it just cracked.

I am hoping that its not the fuel tank. I wouldn't guess that it is based on where the leak is coming from though. A crack at the top of the gas tank shouldn't cause much gas to leak out when the tank is not full and it leaks no matter how much gas is in the tank which lead me to think its something with the hoses that go in and out of the top of the tank.

Figured out what the problem was. It ended up being the sending unit. One of the return lines was cracked causing the slow leak. One question though, do you guys know if the sending unit is different between the Bravada's and Trailblazers? I was told it was, which seems strange.

So, does anyone have any insight on if the Bravada and Trailvoy Fuel Sending Units are different or not? I am very curious now.

According to the AC Delco site all the fuel pump and sending unit (all one piece) part numbers are the same for the TB, Envoy and Bravada. Sounds like they were just feeding you a line.

Interesting. I don't think they were feeding me a line really though because they just went out and found a used one out of a Bravada to save me some money. They said new ones went for 280 and they got one out of a Bravada with 28k on it for 125 bucks so I am not complaining.

They did save you some money as a new one does run about $254.00 for the OEM AC Delco unit. It is however the same unit on all the GMT360 trucks until I believe 05' when they put in the new PWM fuel pump with an internal filter.

Thats definitely good to know for the future and thats honestly what I thought, but I figured the guy must have heard this somewhere. (Plus he never said that the part was more expensive for a Bravada specific one anyway, he just was told it was a different part)
Well anyway, I picked up the truck yesterday and the gas smell went away so we will see how the gas mileage goes. This guy that I am dealing with is really cool though, I called last night to go get it and he just told me to stop by and get it and we can square away sometime next week. He didn't even need to see me or anything. Plus when I talked to him about cost and whatnot he told me not to worry about and we will figure something out and he would possibly split it with me. (I bought the truck about 2 months ago)
