Hey just wondering if anyone has tried the superchips brand programmer for an 06 SS? Does it make a $500 difference?

heard they zero'd out TM and then put it all back in later.
Save your $$$ and get Vector Motorsports.
Their Tunes are much better then superchips, for only a little more money.

:iagree: , the superchips handheld or predator will be a noticeable improvement over stock, but if you want the most for your money, find a vendor on the forum that has the product lineup that you would like to get and go with their tune. Their initail tune will be better than the handheld tunes and you will be able to get updates as you add more of their products along with all the R&D they've put into them. The handhelds just can't compare. Do some searching on the forum and visit the vendor area, you will be glad you did

I had to have a tune that I could throw back to stock at the push of a button. Everyone claims that the tech cannot tell if the SS has a tune or not but I can tell just driving it around the block. The stealerships out here in CA have done nothing but try to screw me everytime I walk through the door so I am not taking any chances with them saying I voided the warranty.
I like the superchips tuner and the ability to adjust and play with the settings. They are also coming out with custom downloadable tunes in conjuction with HP tuners for different mods. The unit can be upgraded via the internet with the cable they provide. You can also reset the tune on the SS back to stock and then sell the programmer to someone else when you get ready to sell the SS. I would check out the superchips website and forum for specific details on the product.
Big things for me was being able to set back to stock and being able to re-sell the tuner or use it on another vehicle when I am done with the SS.
I ended up paying $382.97 shipped to my door for it. Check around, I wouldn't pay $500 fot it.

Yeah according to Superchips response to emails, they remove about 75% of the TM on the 06 TBSS

Obviously, Semi-Custom Tunes will provide the best performance changes for the money. For me however, the Superchips provides peace of mind, convenience, 30 HP and the ability to return to stock in 5 minutes just in case the car needs to be serviced and/or repaired. For the real enthusiast with the luxury of time to send your ECM away etc. then go for the tune. If you are cautious like me, but still have the performance mindset, consider the Superchips. Current price is about $364.00 at Truck Customizers.com

Handhelds definitely have their place. From what I have seen, the Superchips offers transmission tuning, so you do get a little more for the extra cost over a Predator. I've got a Predator and couldn't be happier with the results. I've been told that transmission support is right around the corner for it as well. A lot of people are quick to bash handhelds, but for ease of install and use, they can't be beat. Additionally, custom tunes are available for both the Superchips and Predator handhelds for a small additional fee, or if you go make friends at your local shop.
Just to give you an idea of my faith in them, my initial turbo tune will be installed via a Predator. STS actually used the handheld Predator to tune with a large portion of thier turbo kits. Procharger as well. So you can see that handhelds do have something to offer.
Seems to me like the Superchips tuner has a ton to offer for the money.

I am new here, and am trying to figure out what tuning options we have for these. I have always been a Ford guy and run a 2002 modified F-150 Lightning (only runs 12.30's) and have an old school Superchips flip chip that plugs into the computer. I have two programs - one for race, and one for normal street driving/bad gas. I will be updating that set up to a Superchips Xcalibrator as it has way more versatility, and I can work with my tuner much easier. With that said, I am biased towards having a handheld unit to tune with as well as having a variety of programs to choose from.
Looks like my choices are Vector tune, Superchips handheld, or Diablo handheld. What are the pro's and cons for each of these? The Vector sounds nice, but the programming can't be changed easily, requires a core, requires a re-learn of the ignition / PATS, and is not warranty friendly. The Superchips and Diablo tuners are not as hot of a tune for some reason, and it doesn't seem like many are using them.
I have no idea which route to go with this. I want a tune, but I also want to get the best bang for my buck that will allow for versatility.

yeah, my Wester's (by TuneTimePerformance) Tuned Truck doesn't run for ****! You see many of their Customers having severe trans related problems. what about TuneTime & ADM? lok around and research some..
Handhelds are OK for the "one mod" guy (still not getting all the performance out of your SS though, proven, ask anyone that switched) just buy another set of cores and have the tuner program them..

2815 Superchips Flashpaq only works on the 2006 for now they havent created a 2007 version yet.So if you have a 2007 dont buy the 2815 flashpaq cause it doesnt work.
I called superchips and they are unsure of a ETA on when they will have a program.

if you only knew what I have been hearing from members here and TBSS.com and saw first hand with someof these tunes.. matt doesn't sling mud, I couldn't resist on this one, be careful with some of these tunes by guys not in the business too long.. their "firm shifts" come at a price, that's all I am going to say, do your own research, you should be able to connect the dots..:x

OK so I want the superchips handheld. Is it the only handheld on the market besides the Predator? Also for those of you guys who have it...what is your opinion on the transmission shift points and torque management? Does this seem to have made a big improvement in the 1-2 shift sloppiness? Looking forward to your replies.
I have a vendor tune (wont mention which) and the truck seems to run stronger but when I accelerate slowly my 1-2 shift is still sloppy. Maybe I'll get a hand held tuner and try myself.
