I was just wondering, but I was told by the dealership that when they replaced my left front strut, it was not needed to do an alignment. I asked why and was told that the new set-up did not require for them to do one. I was under the impression that if you replace one strut/shock you should replace the other side at the same time, and do an alignment at the same time.
Any one else been told this?
Thanks for your responses,
Tim:confused:

You're supposed to replace struts in sets(both fronts or both backs). I guess unless you're car is still really new they wouldn't replace both.

I had about 14,000 miles on my 2003 TB when the front left started to leak fluid. I asked why not replace both, and why would they not do a front alignment after replacement? I was told it was not needed and that the TB was set-up so that it was not required.
I'm guessing I was told some BS.

the struts should have been replaced as a set. as for the alignment, it is not needed because the strut does not control any type of measurement. its mainly camber that would need to be set but not with a TB.

Welcome to the forum Juiced:yes:
What about when struts are removed and new front springs (GF Lowering) are installed? Does the front end require alignment due to new springs?

Welcome aboard Juiced!
I think if you put on new springs then an alignment would be needed.

That is what I thought, but I wanted to see if Juiced had any suggestions.

with new springs, depending on how low the drop, the camber and toe measurements are changed. if it is a mild drop, your camber should still be within spec, but the toe will need to be corrected to prevent excessive tire edge wear.
on a side note...thank you for the welcome. hope i can be a help on here.

when a vehicle is under factory warranty, we are only allowed by the factory to replace the faulty part. since one was leaking and the other was not, only the leaker was replaced. if you had a different concern, such as front end end bounces while driving, and the dealer could show that both struts were worn, then we could replace both struts. the front end of the TB/ENV is in fact designed that you do not need to do an alignment when replacing the strut. you will, however, need to do an alignment if you change the springs.
