Year 2005 Make Chevrolet Model Trailblazer
4200 inline 6 Compression Ratio 10:1
Horsepower 275.00 BHP (202.4 KW) @ 6000.00 RPM
Torque 275.00 Ft-Lbs (372.9 NM) @ 3600.00 RPM

Year 2006 Make Chevrolet Model Trailblazer
4200 inline 6 Compression Ratio 10.3:1
Horsepower 291.00 BHP (214.2 KW) @ 6000.00 RPM
Torque 277.00 Ft-Lbs (375.6 NM) @ 4800.00 RPM

Improvement = 16 Horsepower

So is Compression Ratio all that changed ?

2006 has a different cylinder head. AFAIK, bore and stroke are exactly the same. Only diff on the bottom end is piston oil squirters were added to cool the pistons. The addition of a MAF sensor and some software wizzardry probably helped some as well.

In addition to what Joel said, I read the whole tech doc on the 06 I6 and there are a list of upgrades/changes about 3/4pg long. Not going to get it out of a simple PCM flash (plus the PCM is different, more like the I5 Coly/Canyon one).
