Any member who is interested in becoming a TBECentral Forum Moderator can post their internet/forum experience here to be considered as a candidate. Post count and join date will be looked at also. :)

Thanks and have a Happy Easter.

I am definitely interested. I usually have nothing better to do at work (we see clients by appointment and I frequently have time between appointments or no-shows) so I sit and peruse three message boards I frequent (this one, a professional detailing board, and an envoy-specific message forum). I've been on several S-series, F-body, and other message boards in my time in the past.

I have been posting on messageboards for at least 5-6 years now, though I've never served as a moderator. I have administered a couple small (by that I mean zero trafic) messageboards using Invision Power Board software; but that's it. I've also done some limited web development and management in my years.

I feel that moderating is alot about common sense; what is and isn't acceptable and everything else should be regulated by the posters, and anything that crosses the line should be obvious. That would be my approach. If people lack the common courtesy to recognize that everyone is entitled to an opinion and to be fair, they probably either don't need to be posting here or should be given warning and direction toward cleaning up their act.

Tommy,
I'll be a moderator if you want. I have zero moderating experience, but I have been posting on car enthusiasts boards for about 7 years starting with Audiworld, then to ClubGP, Trailblazer forums, LS1tech and Cadillacfaq.

I believe it being flexible but some things should not be tolerated. One is name calling, slander, attacking someone on their personal preference (religion, sex, race, type of music) or generally just being rude.

I believe people should be able to be critical of the Trailblazer, mods, etc. This only makes the vehicle better. Everyone should be allowed to post their own opinion providing it doesn't go against my second paragraph.

I have some spare time, between my USAF job, wife, 2 kids, school (on-line), etc. I usually read every post on this board or at least 80 percent of them.

Email me at phileaglesfan@comcast.net and you can give me some guidence.

I want to see this site succeed not turn into a WCW show.

I have seen some good websites almost be destroyed by people that slander each other because they have more courage when they sit behind a computer. One owner was smart and quick enough to take care of it immediately. Usually these posts have dumb@ss, @sshole, etc as one of the words.

WCW, while enjoyable, is basically a big soap opera that goes to the extreme at times. I wouldn't want my children to watch it. Some people that got banned from the site mentioned above said slamming people is their form of entertainment. If it is, then there are plenty of non car enthusiast web sites that cator to them. I prefer to come to car enthusiasts sites to talk about vehicles, not to get into some childish argument.

OH! You meant one of those Wrestling shows.... THAT was what I didn't understand since I don't usually watch wrestling and past saying WWF or something, I'm lost. :o I'm afraid you've found my weakspot!

However I know exactly what you mean with the bashing people; I've belonged to a few forums like that -- most are now defunct (go figure). I was actually banned from one of them because I fought back against the bashing; guess I was too tactful in telling them to p!ss off with their childish crap?? ;)

That's exactly the reason why I've thought some car sites would be better off without an "Off Topic" section to their forums; while small sites (like this one is at this point) can handle it, the larger they get it tends to get out of hand. You start finding the OT posts and differences of opinion extending into the subject-matter forums and causing clutter, as well as reducing the ammount and quality of information available to visitors and members genuinely looking for info. Viscious cycle, but definitely something to watch out for. :D

I would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming response. I received over 2 dozen responses from emails, PM's and from this thread.

I have picked 2 senior members ( Black Ice & Dave ) that I feel will be valuable assets to help keeping our forums organized and in order in the years to come.

As the community grows, the two moderators will move up to super moderators and I'll post for two more moderators.

Thanks again everyone.
