I have an awd tbss with about 17,500 miles and I desperately need new tires for it very soon. Is anyone else noticing this or is this just a reflection of my driving style?;) Anyway besides the fact about how long the stock tires last, what is a solid tire to replace it with? Pirelli-scorpion zero, the stock goodyear eagle rs-a, michelin 4x4 diamaris?? I heard some good stuff about the nittos, anyone want to let upon me some info about them? Thanks!

Driving style. I have 10K on my truck and the tires look new. I will get at least 30K out of my tires. I don't drive like a nanny though.

All three are worthless.

Is there a explanation to your statement? experiences with them? word of mouth?

The way I drive, I don't know how they have lasted this long.
I'm closing in on 26,000. I will need new tires purty soon. I'm down to the wear bars in the back. I'm looking at these -http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=CrossContact+UHP&partnum=55YR0CC&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=0

Out of curiosity I priced tires once on tirerack. The Goodyear RS-A's were less than half the price of any other tire in that size. I know what I'll be doing when the time comes....

Had Kumho Exsta MX's on the Camaro for a while. Good auto cross tire good value. Wore out real quick ;) By the way Kumho does not make a 255/50/20 tire. If you want Kumho you will have to change tire size.

Running Michelin PS2s on the Camaro now. Fantatastic tire. Don't have experience with the Diamaris.

Had Pirelli's on a Dakota with 19" rims a few years ago. Great Tire! Expensive though and did not last real long. Replaced them with Eagles when they wore out.

Nothing comes close to Goodyear Eagles for value in the stock size.
I went with Eagle GT II with my new wheels and couldn't be happier.

Hey Joe,

I have been looking for tires too just getting ready for the sticker shocl when I do have to replace them or I get new wheels.

I was looking at the 255/40VR20 Yokohama Parada Spec-X. Check it out.

They dont make a 255/50R20, but they make a 255/45 and 255/40.

Does anyone in here think a 275/45R20 will have fitment problems if placed on a rim with these dimensions.....

I'm at 10K miles, rotated 3 times, and I'm seeing the wear bars coming up fast. I hardly ever spin the tires, but most of my driving is city-ish, on Florida roads known for their aggresive, tread eating asphalt mix.

Having had nothing but bad experiences with my last three sets of Eagle RSAs (all OEM on new cars), and having had nothing but good experiences when I replaced them with Michelins, I'm eyeing the two sets that Michelin makes - Diamaris and Latitudes. I think I'll get the Latitude for two reasons - they're more of a touring tire, so they should be quieter and ride better than the Diamaris. Plus, even though the Tire Rack has them for $252 each, shipping and mounting are obviously extra.

And even better news - I found out Costco can special order those Latitudes, and they are $271 each shipped, mounted, balanced, WITH a road hazard warranty. Wow. That may not sound cheap, but relatively speaking, it's a bargain when you compare the out the door prices...of course, you have to be a Costco member (and I am) with a Costco tire center close to you (and they're everywhere here in south Florida).

SSTrailVette,

Let me know how those Nitto's work out......I really like the way they look and saw on their website that they have a 255/50R20.

I am nowhere near needing new tires, but what does everyone think of the BFG g force kdws flame tread? I think they have them in 260/50/20 not sure.

Doubt the 265/50/20 will fit. They are 0.4" taller than the 255/50/20. Not that much room between the suspension and the tire.

In my opinion the best 20" tires are any of the Toyo Proxes ST line. I had them on my 20" giovanna capris (which are for sale by the way) when i had my jimmy. (that means 5 lug bolt pattern) They gripped the road like no other and have a great tread pattern on them that throws water, snow, and mud away with ease. They WILL be the next tires i buy for my SS.

I just had the Nitto 404 255-50-20 (stock size on stock wheels) installed today. So far I can't say enough good about them. The ride is much better. They did not break the bank either, $800 out the door.

yeah man must be the driving habit.... i mean i tear the lanes up out here in Hawaii and mine are still good... even though i bought some new rims n tires... but i recommend any of the Toyo Proxes or the Nitto 420S line. i got some 265/35/22 Nitto 420S and they are nice. They are Unitread meaning you can rotate anyway you want... and road noise is minimal. i like them and so does everyone else i know who has them.

What kind of rims you got on the SS? I don't see too many others on the road and none with shoes yet.
