Yeah, I have an XUV with stock tires, 4WD and the air suspension. I took it off road and it left A LOT to be desired. I didn't get stuck or anything, but it bottoms out like crazy. That can't be good. From what I understand, no lift kit will fit the XUV.

Is there anything I can do to improve off road performance...maybe get a little more ground clearance.?

I figure taking off the running boards might at least give the illusion of more clearance, but so far the running boards haven't been dragging.

Well, you know nothing can be done about wheelbase, so the breakover angle is never going to be that great. The front air dam could be removed if you're scraping it on rocks. You could always get the FRONT lifted 1-2" by SuspensionMAXX spacers and put on 1-1.5" larger diameter tires and that would help a bit more.

Discarding the air suspension and getting some EXT's OEM springs who has put on lowering springs is the only way to get a lift in the back, but the air suspension is so nice when you throw the old refrigerator on the back of the XUV.

I had the same choice, and went with the SWB Envoy instead of thrashing with an XUV. For less money than you'd spend upgrading the XUV, you could buy gas for somebody with a Jeep and ride shotgun with them.

Ride shotgun?? Alright, I guess with all that money I'll supposedly get for six months in Iraq, I'll buy a Jeep and let the wife use the XUV for hauling around old refrigerators...
