Changed plugs today and noticed a male vaccum fitting without a hose on my intake above No 1 plug.

Any clue what it is?

Thanks

Anyboby with a TB should be able to look under the hood and see what is connected here.

Especially those with a FIPK.

My wife is leaving on a trip Tuesday and I would like to fix it or plug it. It may be just plugged.

Please help.:D

I don't really know what you are asking... But you can use k&n instructions here to reference your issue...

Look at number 5. Is that what you are askin???

No. It is on the intake. Pointing in the direction of K&Ns #5. Underneath #5 before disassembly.

Look at my picture above the #1 coilpack there is a male fitting that had nothing on it. Since I bought it used I don't know what should be there.

You can see this area when you look under the hood.

Thanks.

On my 02, there is an eraser-looking plug over it, and I dont really know what it does. I would say plug it personally, but if your TB isnt having any problems, it should be okay since it has been missing for presumably a fair amount of time.

That hose is supposed to connect to the air plenum or resonator box, and other end goes to the fuel pressure regulator. It likely needs to be at the reduced pressure from atmospheric that's inside that box especially when at WOT, so plugging it will likely effect the way the regulator functions.

OK, I am confused as to which hose/plug you guys are referring to, but here is a pic:

Are you referring to the blue or the red circle? The red one on my 02 is plugged, but the blue connects to the resonator. If you have an aftermarket intake, there should be something included to reroute the conenction elsewhere.

(Hope its okay to draw on your pic zamar! If not, let me know.)

I tried to draw on it but could not get it to my website and since I was fighting flu-like symptoms I just gave up :) .

The Red circle is the one that was open to ATM. The blue one was on my resonator box to fuel regulator as it should be. It may be some sort of test port.

Yep that's the way mine is too. "Port" shown in red circle is plugged with a rubber cap.

Cool, now we're all on the same page. The red circle on mine is plugged, and the blue goes to the resonator. I dont know what the part number is for the plug or any measurements to help you get a plug, so you might have to ask a dealer.

I got a rubber cap for it that I had gotten at Lowes last year. Fits like a glove.

Now If my wife would ever let me drive it. :duh:

Glad you fixed it!

In a few days, I will remove the pic. Glad we could be of help here!

Do you notice any difference how it runs now with that vacuum leak fixed?

Well my wife took it to Kansas the next day and she isn't too aware about those kind of things. I am going to hook a vacuum gage to it next week.

I am leaning to this being a test port. My neighbor is a master mechanic at the dealership I bought it at. I just have not seen him out lately.

I'll post what I find next week.
