well this would be my third post, so I'm new to Modding the trailblazer. For I've modded other vehicles before and modded the heck out of my Ford sitting in the garage. but in some time, I'm gonna improve the performance on the trailblazer (intake, exhaust, chip) nothing major! just something to open the truck a little bit more, this is my everyday driver to and from work and other errands.

what intakes do you guys recommend?

whats the best overall sounding exhaust?

any ECU chips I should know about?

1) There are a number of quality cold air induction systems sold by the various vendors here. You can't go wrong with any of them. It is highly recommended that when you install a CAI, you also get a tune as the SS will run rich otherwise. I would suggest you stick with one vendor for all, that way you know everything will be compatable. Personally, I would recommend Vector since that is what I have and love. If you search Vector here, you will find that they are highly thought of.

2) Sound vs. performance is the question here. I have always loved Borla and they have a system for the SS. You will also note that there are "true bolt-on" systems (single tip) or dual tip systems (Borla) that require you cut the rear facia. According to the tuner that I respect, the stock system is acutally the best flowing and any aftermarket system will cost you HP.

3) No chips. You need a tuner (such as Vector) to reprogam your TCM/PCM for significant improvements.

Good luck.

i see you live in jersey! tune time is in jersey too!! some one local is always a good thing, you wont have any down time from sending out your computers to get flashed, plus tune time just got a new dyno so if you want it could be dynotuned!! and they have anything else you would want for it!! the exhaust it all depends on what you are looking for, do you want to be heard from 3 blocks away or something mellow ??

thanks guys,

keep in mind, this is my daily driver.

so is it my understand that I need a TUNE in order to compensate for the Cold air intake, just about any brand? especially K&N. I know on my 05 mustang GT there are two CAI that require tuning while the other vast majority dont require tuning. I'm guessing its the same scenario. And I've only seen 2 CAI from searching the net, K&N and Vector Motorsports? are there any others? possibly one's that dont require tuining?

as for the exhaust, I'm looking just for an exhaust that possibly is a little bit louder and more throatier (kinda like a flowmaster sound)?

any opinions?

Vector MS makes a CAI, TuneTime Performance sells the IEATSRT8 CAI, ADM Performance has 2 CAIs (one uses stock MAF other uses 100mm MAF).

If you are close to TuneTime Performance in NJ, I would use them as they are local, can dyno tune your ride for best performance, and can install all your parts if you want them to.

Exhausts: Stainless Works (single or duals), Magnaflow, Borla, and custom or just a muffler replacement. (There is another one Im forgetting as well)

Chips, dont even think about them for the SS, not gonna do you any good, plus no one makes a chip, Diablosport and Superchips make handhelds, but neither can control the trans currently. Get a dyno tune instead.

hey there welcom, if you want your truck a little louder just remove the resonator its at the end just before the tip as for the muffler the factory one is straight thru you cant buy any better. and you can also use the k&n intake without a tune no problem i did for 6 months before i went to the adm. hope this helps.

As for an Intake and Tune I highly recommend Tune Time Performance especially since you are in NJ. You can check out their vendor forum here. They also now have the capability to Dyno tune your truck in house and they will also be able to answer any questions you have.

As for an exhuast I would recommend just having a muffler welded in for sound only as the stock exhaust has been shown to be very free flowing.
