When put into 4hi service 4wd light illuminates

My 4x4 02 (problem child) has a problem......surprise. When put into 4hi service 4wd light illuminates, in a4wd it is ok till rears slip then light comes on. I thought i saw it in another thread but i cant find it. My question is this.. what is the problems with the front axle that does this because everything else is working, ie the transfercase motor, switch, tccm, etc. And I thank you in advance for ya'lls help in this matter.:crazy: :mad: :confused: :drool

Hmm.. sounds like the dash switch and TC encoder motor are working the way they should. Maybe it's the front axle disconnect? That's that troublesome aluminum bearing housing assy bolted to the right side of the engine oil pan that the rt half shaft runs through. Hopefully someone will chime in with some troubleshooting techniques.
