Where should the idle be when at idle with nothing running, no heating nada. mine is currently idles around 6 hundred. then when the heater is turned on she dipps every now and then to arund the 4-5 hundred range. and kinda fluctuates in that area.

I don't know what's recommended, but my envoy idles at 600 and doesn't fluctuate much at all once its warmed up. Cold start at about 1400 and it settles to 600 in about a minute.

The idle should be at about 600 with nothing running. Ill see if heating fluctuates mine :undecided

600 sounds about right. I have never noticed the Rpm dropping when turning the heater on, but it dips when the A/C or the defroster causes the compressor to kick in.
I can't believe, with all of the computer controls, that they cannot predict the compressor coming on and compensating the engine Rpm smoother.

OK just took mine for a ride and it's at 600 RPMs at all time AC, heat and defrost.. You might get that looked @:undecided
According to GM's specifications, the I6 should idle at 630 rpm fully warmed up. Whether accessories are on or not shouldn't really affect the idle, other than perhaps a very momentary shimmer in the needle if the a/c clicks on....the electronics should be able to maintain a steady idle regardless of accessory load.
If you're under warranty, have it checked out. If out of warranty and the SES light isn't lit, check the trottle body....its most likely gummed up, requiring the throttle to open more than normally necessary to achieve idle speed. - That's usually the most common idle issue in fuel injected vehicles.

Same here (with the exception mines a TB... hehe).

Can someone please clarify...HOW do you clean the throttle body???
