Seems as if my brakes are sort of difficult to get used to lately. They were always a little soft in the pedal to begin with. My gf would comment on how it seemed like i was waiting till the last minute to stop, but it seems rather difficult to stop this big beast. I know the other SS's I drove didn't stop like this at all, but the pedal feel and brakes on the actual SS I picked up don't grip or stop as well as the others. Does this happen with everyone's SS? I was thinking maybe it's just the heavy truck plus the 20 inchers on every corner, but I dunno, the others didn't feel like I had to push so damn hard to stop the truck everytime.

I'm wondering if I should comment on this to the dealer but i'm thinking they'll probably go test drive another SS, realize what i'm talking about, and replace the equipment on all four corners, but I don't think that'll fix it because the truck only had 28 miles when I bought it, they arn't pulsing or anything. The brake pedal is just extremely unresponsive and difficult to communicate what it's doing. You'll gradually increase brake usage and it seems like the truck isn't stopping any faster unless you really plant your foot hard.

If you're under 12K, the dealer WILL warranty the brakeshttp://www.aimoo.com/forum/images/messageicon/excalmatorymark.gif

If you have to, insist on comparing the brake effort to another 07 SS :hissy:

I've seen other guys stating that there brakes have lasted 40-60K http://www.unixboard.de/vb3/images/smilies/sm-nachdenk.gif

Yeah i'll probably make it a point to go see my sales guy sometime this week and test drive another one to compare the two, because this thing is honestly being very difficult to stop. The pedal feel is very mushy with no response almost. Sucks!

Okay so I paid closer attention to the truck today and how it handled.

The brakes feel great when you first start driving the truck. After an hour of running errands around town, they got worse, and worse and worse. I even had to stop really fast in a parking lot because someone cut me off, and you could feel the pedal go down 50% without any NOTION of stopping, just slowing down. And you could hear the air pressure sorta. I personally think theres gotta be some air in the brake lines. Maybe a bleed would help?

I called the dealer and they said they'll take a ride with a new SS to see how it does, and also take a look at my rear end whine. I'll post up with results after I get the truck back!

So I went to the dealer today to talk about the brakes and the rear end whine.

I went for a ride with the tech and he did a series of stops, some slow some hard. He said that the brake pedal should be right along side with your accelerator and you should be stopping. A couple times he slammed hard and it did go past, but granted he considered it normal.

Rear end whine was also considered normal, but also documented just incase it gets worse.

The funny part about it is, after I got in my truck, the truck stopped GREAT! I'm not joking, the pedal would engage way sooner, and all the way home the engage point didn't change once, it stayed nice and firm. I'm really baffled at this point, but i'm wondering if maybe one of the pads hadn't seated right, or if my rotors were glazed possibly? I dunno what it was but the trucks stopping great and all it took were a couple hard stops. Hmm.
