View Full Version : Need codes Identified-service 4wd light

After some research I now know that I have to replace my Transfer Case Control Module (got code co 550). However, I also had some codes in history that I would like to have identified.
U 1000--(that might be because I removed fuse # 8)
co 300-?
co 379-?

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

also...I hooked up a remote starter from from Bulldog security and tied into a white wire on the brake switch which disengages the remote starter when the key is inserted. Anyone have a wiring diagram for the switch and is it tied to the TCCM? I may have inadvertantly killed the tccm when I installed the remote starter as that is when the service 4wd light came on. Maybe it was coincidence.:duh:

What make and model since it may be different? I don't know if it is or not but it would help someone troubleshooting.

sorry about that ...'02 Trailblazer lt 4x4 I6

Since 02s had electrical problems with the transfer case, then I wouldn't be surprised if the other codes are just because the TCCM went bad. Someone with more knowledge should chime in within a day or so (since weekends are usually slower around here).

U1000=loss of communication with a controller on the class 2 serial data circuit
U1300=Low voltage on the class 2 serial data circuit.
U1379=unknown code...doesn't exist

Appears as though you tapped into a communication wire during your install :duh:

Best thing to do is pull out the remote starter, and get the vehicle wiring back to OEM...then verify if the problem is fixed or not :worried:

Then, get yourself the GM-9 t-harness, wire the remote start to that, and plug the set up into your vehicle :D

I did use the gm-9 t-harness adapter which aids in the installation making it a virtual plug and play. However, one of the only connections that has to be made outside of the t-harness (besides the passlock bypass module) is the one to the brake light switch. I have never seen so many wires to that switch as I have on this vehicle. The instructions on the remote start indicated I only needed a 12volt pulse to disarm it. I did remove the connection to it and tried to clear the codes but the co 550 came back. I would like to get a diagram of the wiring harness to see if I can tap into the correct wire instead of a communicaton wire if that is truly what happened.
I have the TCCM on order and if I haven't gotten the brake switch diagram when it gets here before I install it I'll try and locate the 12volt feed line that goes directly to the taillights (by working backwards from the bulb if I have to) and tie in the remote start there.

Those codes were retrieved using a Snapon scanner with the latest flashable carts..I wrote them as they appeared on the screen.
It may be that the damn thing is confused!
Thanks again

co 550

The brake light switch will have 2 wires connected to it (orange & white). You can use the white one (switched)...You triple checked your connections into the t-harnesshttp://www.aimoo.com/forum/images/messageicon/question.gif
If not, make sure the remote start is connected properly http://www.unixboard.de/vb3/images/smilies/sm-nachdenk.gif

Oh...call your snap-on dealer and brake his balls about these codes  :weird:

EDIT...Sorry, there are 6 wires...you want terminal "A"...solid white wire :D

I installed a remote starter on my 02 a little over a year ago and had to tap the brake switch. Im pretty sure I used whatever wire the directed guide called for, which is:

BRAKE WHITE (+) @ SWITCH ABOVE BRAKE PEDAL

Taken from bulldogsecurity.com under our trucks wiring diagram.

Thanks for the info. I also went to bulldogsecurity.com and saw the info that identifies the white wire as the one you tie into but what it doesn't show is that there are two white wires there. After performing some amazing feats of acrobatic maneuvering I verified with a test light that both of them had the same function (showed 12volts upon pressing the pedal).
When I realized I had trouble I tied in to the second wire to see if that would eliminate the prob but it didn't. I'll wait till the TCCM gets here and install it and see what happens.

It could have been one big coincidence or really bad luck that got me.:sadcry:

:thx

P.S. The T-harness connector came with little idiot proof labels on them to show me which wires went where.

I never touched the wire at the brake pedal, I grabbed it under the dash right next to where the t-harness goes. I forget which wire I grabbed, but it was white.

Did you disconnect the t-harness and the other wires, and re-check to see if you eliminated the problem?

That I did not do.........maybe I got stuck with a poorly made one?
I wont have a chance to look at it till tomorrow......I'll give you an update then........

:thx

Well.... I removed the t-harness (with the battery disconnected) and replaced everything back to OEM and I still got a co 550 code (bad TCCM)
The other codes that were previously in history never came back.
I still haven't received the new TCCM yet so I'll have to fire off an email to customer service. I'll give an update to the situation after I receive and install it.

Thanks to all for their input. :thx

i have a bulldog security remote start delux with long range remote/RX and i also tied into the white wire on my 04 and no problems have occured FROM the remote start at all .
