My wife likes the SS (yeah!!) and we talked about trading her car in....want to get the 6.0L....but how is the gas consumption (guzzle, guzzle)...GM recommended 93 octane but not required and I don't see the 6.0L has DOD....she would like to get the 6.0...but gas is her main concern and the prices of gas in CA are ....espcially the higher grade...nice to have a wife that likes a 395 HP car:yes: ......any advice?

It's got a drinking problem definately, our AWD was GM estimated at 17/19 but I have no clue on the actual EPA rating (AKA I may get owned) :)

Looks like GM actually has it rated (http://www.chevrolet.com/trailblazer/specifications/#fueleconomy) lower than 17/19 you mentioned for AWD models. Not good news for folks trying to get decent milage out of this vehicle.

My current 4.2 TB only gets 14 around town so I think the LS2 gets great fuel economy when you compare engines and their respective horsepower ratings. Bang for your fuel buck......

Gas milage is a tricky thing. Tahoe is bigger and I've heard they get similar milage as TBs. I guess it all depends on how you drive and road conditions.

That was part of my sales job on the wife. I told her that since the SS has more horsepower the engine doesn't have to work as hard and that will give us better gas mileage. My wife doesn't know alot about cars so she bought the logic.

Well we filled ours up for the first time yesterday and got 14.5 combined city/highway with alot of throttle prodding in between. I think it's safe to say I can squeak 16+ combined.

That's good news! I currently get 14 combined with very little wide open throttle.

Well no WOT yet, I just kept prodding it to about 40-50% off the line to feel the grip hehe Still got about 200 or so miles before I can actually flatten it.

Took a trip down to San Diego for the day yesterday from LA. Mostly freeway with some traffic on the return. When I could I was doing 85/90 but I probably averaged somewhere around 75 or so mph with 37.5mph. I thought the mileage actually would have been better but I think the stop, start traffic screwed that all up.
