I contacted Volant and asked about any development about a CAI for a 5.3L for the Envoy....they don't have any in the works right now....they asked me if I was near their office, so that I could bring my car over so they can get some specs and start on a prototype...unfortunately I don't live up there (909 area Ontario,Riverside,San Bernadino)...I just may take a weekend and drive up......but are there any other CAI that are good....I know Volant is a good CAI and even the dealership and some performance shops out here like them...but what are the equal alternatives?, while I wait:cool:

Have you looked at Airaid or K&N? Both make CAI for the 4.2L. I've got a Airaid on my 4.2L and have so far been satisfied. I don't know if it really has helped but it hasn't hurt.

If you do end up taking a weekend trip...you may end up with a free intake. I think the only real difference in the volant and other brands is that volant has a factory looking box. The others usually just use a heat shield. I have the Airaid in mine and haven't had any problems.

I tried them almost a year ago. I thought they would have had one for us by now. They are like 1.5 hours from me too. They are in Rancho Cucamonga. I love saying that!!! They told me to bring it down and leave it with them for a week. I couldn't just do that so I ended up going with a K&N. Not a huge world of difference on its own, but a dfference nonetheless. Change that exhaust up a bit and get a Westers and you will love the speed and the sound.

Don't know if I want to leave my car for a week....BTW do you know anything about the Outlaw CAI's?...I had 2 K&N's before (in my Honda & Olds) I wasn't to satisfied with them.

One of the Westers reps also reps Outlaw and aFe intakes. He had asked me if I was interested but, I haven't seen any hard data or heard any raving complements that would make me shell out more dough to do the switch.
