The 05 Ascender has been at the dealer for a week.
The wife was driving when a check engine light came on.
The dealer pulled the codes and said it was a throttle code. I am not sure of the specific code since my wife was talking to the dealership.
They held the car for several days and could not find anything wrong.
Wife went to pick it up and the code triggered while the tech was driving it to be picked up.
They still claim they can not figure out why this is happening.
Any ideas. This vehicle is 6 months old and has only 15K.
Is the dealership being thruthful or are they just not trying?
I am pretty disgusted at this point.
Ideas or comments appreciated.

Sounds like the dealership is stumped on this one. Have they been calling anyone at GM? Did you get a loaner car from them?

Dealer is not providing rental car.
The truck has been in the shop for 1 1/2 weeks.
The problem is that Isuzu is not GM.
Even though the truck is built in Oklahoma, warranty service is only through Isuzu.
There are very few dealers now and many in our area have closed.
I think I have 2 options. One is to threaten using a lemon law and the other would be to bite the bullet and take it to a GMC dealer and pay out of pocket.

Wow, that sucks no rental and no progress on a fix. :(
Is there any number in the owners manual for a call to upper level customer service? Hope this is resolved soon. Sounds like Isuzu only sells them but can't / won't fix them. Not a good situation.

That really does suck. I had the same thought about trying a GM dealer for service, but of course that doesn't work for Isuzu warranty repairs.
It's too bad you are having such a hard time. I have often thought it would be nice to have that 70,000 mile warranty, but it doesn't mean much if they won't try to address the problem.
Found this on Isuzu's site:
"If you have a problem with your new Isuzu vehicle we encourage you to bring it to our attention by calling the Isuzu Owner Relations Department at 800-255-6727. If we are unable to resolve the problem, you may file a claim with the BBB Auto Line."
BTW, there is a member here who had his throttle body replaced for a bad sensor. Maybe there is a GM Technical Service Bulletin for the throttle problem? I know there are some sites where you can search TSB's but I can't remember what they are off-hand. Maybe someone else here can refresh my memory... good luck.

OK, you can search TSB's on the NHTSA site here:
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/tsb/
And here is a listing of some OBD-II trouble codes:
http://www.obdiicsu.com/Docs/DTC/DTCData.html
I looked through the 2003-2005 Ascender TSB's and didn't find any for "Throttle Codes", but there were a few for an SES light and no specific problem.

Perhaps some good news today.
The dealer did a software upgrade to one of the powertrain computers.
This, we are told, should fix the problem and if not then we can bring it back.
I do not know why it took 7 working days in the shop to do this, but knock on wood....it is "fixed".
I actually like the vehicle and have owned several GM products including my current car, but I am a little concerned about the complexity of truck and the ability of the dealer network to service it.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Hopefully we will be out of the garage for a while.

You say it is Isuzu, not GM? Arent they basically the same company, as GM owns Isuzu?
Nevermind, I just say your last post. I hope the software update fixes your problem!

The check engine problem has happened again today.
From reading edmunds.com it sounds like the problem could be a chafed wiring harness. Someone with a TB had what sounds like the exact problems as my wife and they even got the same computer upgrade to no avail.
A chafed wiring harness would be simple to fix, but hard to find.
Hopefully the dealer can solve it this time.
