I'm thinking about going in a getting an SS and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about the 08 model. Trying to decide if I should pick up the 07 or just wait it out, I've done some searching on the net but havent found a thing about the trailblazer SS just the other models they are planning.

Rumor has it that 07 is the last year for the SS,b tu we wont know that for sure till near the end of the model year. if it does continue 08 will be the last year. With that said, i doubt they will make any changes for one year. Cept maybe putting even more TQ management into it like they did for 07

There can't be an '08 TBSS if there is no LS2 in '08. :D
They are carrying over the LS2 for a bit longer, but it wouldn't be in a limited run production variant for an entire model year I'd guess.
Why doesn't White answer this for us??

I was at the Atlanta Auto Show this weekend, And was told that they won't  offer an 08" TBSS? Not sure how reliable the source is But he seemed to up on the production stuff?

Makes perfect sense. I don't see them slamming an L76/L98/LS3 into it when last I heard the TB was going bye bye in 2010

Thats OK, a two year run will probably make these more collectable down the line.

Thats not what I want to hear, I really want a new one of these trucks!!!
But, if it is indeed a 2yr run, it is going to be more like the Sy/Ty days with pretty limited production.:D

I'm a Manager at a Chevy store and we where told no more after 08 and they will probably be limited run of SS's if any at all. Chevy is replacing it with a vehicle like the Arcadia.

This is a gamble. I want a 2008... but can buy now. So when is the best time to place an order to ensure I get that "limited run" .. if in fact, the SS is available as a 2008 model?
Maybe I should place an order now for a 2007 and by the time it gets here we'll know if there is a planned production run in 2008.
I guess I should talk to a fleet manager.
FYI: On another forum someone just took delivery on a 2007 and the cloth interior was different from the prior 07s .. they commented the new design/material is actually nicer... my question, is this a sign GM is ramping down to discontinue the SS model? ... or a sign they're continuing into 2008?

Typical of GM. They went all SUV and truck for the SUV/Truck boom, and now they're going to go all wussy crossover/CUV during this little boom. It's like they chase their tail or something.
When the CUV boom goes away (and it will, trust me) then they'll abandon that and go to whatever's next. Maybe if GM would diversify their offerings so they can respond more quickly to market changes and demands they'd not constantly be behind. It would make more sense to have a variety of vehicles rather than their current practice of investing nearly all their models into what the current trend is....IE....dumping all the good sellers (TB etc etc) and going CUV. It's kinda stupid.

Acadia......manager you say?

In his defense ... he works for a Chevy dealership, not GMC.
Arcadia seems to roll off the tongue easier than Acadia too.

I just got off the phone with a fleet manager ... said he's 99% sure the TBSS is done for '07, '08 and beyond -- can't even order one now. He loaded up on them before the threashold. Will confirm this afternoon.
1st EDIT: I just got off the phone with two other fleet managers from different dealers. Both said you can still order a '07 up through the end of the month.. one of the two said they heard both rumors that '07 is the end... and GM plans on building the SS into 2008 -- said she would call GM to confirm.
2nd EDIT: The fleet manager from the first dealer called back and confirmed GM is in fact building the SS for 1/2 year production run in '08 -- confirmed in his computer. I'm still waiting for the second source to verify the same with GM.
So far, my sources (fleet managers) indicate they'll be ordering the 2008 beginning in May.

just noticed this post on another forum, guess I will try to hold out and stick with my ls for now.
I called around today .. two fleet managers confirmed with GM they're planning production into 2008... possibly only 1/2 year run. There will be a new color -- I have it written down at work .. its metallic black.
They'll be taking orders for the '08 mid-June.

I am glad I bought mine in Jan 06', it's been a great vehicle, but when it goes back, I'll be ready to move on. Heck since I bought my new Caddy SRX (07' with the new interior), I haven't even had the urge to drive the TBSS lol the Dam interior on the Caddy makes you feel nice and pampered (My wife was glad I bought "HER" a Cadillac :dielaugh: )

half build into '08 makes sense. It'll burn off the remaining run of the LS2

So if the LS2 is done for, what are they replacing it with in their other car/trucks?

depends on the vehicle, there will be more than 1 V8 available. The Vette and Camaro will get LS3s. G8 is getting an L76. I thought I read somewhere about L92 variants in cars as well.

how about these apples ...
LS9
Early reports indicate that a 6.2 L LS9 derivative is due in 2008. Displacement was a reportedly decreased for a thicker cylinder wall, to promote a stronger cylinder to deal with the rigors of possibly forced induction. A picture of this motor was seen drifting around on the internet, and it seems to be equipped with a positive displacement supercharger and is stated to produce 650 hp (485 kW).

There is a website in there with a link to the GM Build/Order guides for 2008. There are build codes and such for 2008 for the SS.
