:ugh: Hi guys. I recently bought my 07 awd tbss and I have about 2 thousand miles on the clock right now.

The window sticker says 21/16 (16 i believe.. cant remember the exact number) and I drive ALL 495 driving without traffic. Anyways..I am getting 14.1 average on gas. I use 93 only and I dont hit the gas hard or beat on the truck. I am driving modest to see what I can get out of the gas mileage.

What the hell is wrong. thats 7 miles per gallon less. I cant afford to put in 150 bucks a week in gas. Its CRAZY.

Any help would be appreciated.

ummm the SS is 14/17. not 21/16. Never was or has been. Thats the NON SS TB

stated here.... the 07 is no different then the 06, cept for more TQ management and the rear seat inserts.

Your mileage is gonna suck until the engine is properly broken in. My '05 TB didn't start to get "good" gas mileage till about the 15K mark. BTW, the TBSS is not a hybrid, you shoulda known this before layin down the cheddah ;)

Even Non-SS TB's don't get as good as they are rated. I average around 15-16 with mine. This last tank I just ran was the best since I've had mine, and I got 16.7 mpg. Which I was happy with! Lol.

oh.. thats weird.. the window sticker on the truck I bought said 21/16

said it had the active fuel management system where it shuts down 2 cylinders while cruising.

interesting.

IF I were you I have take that sticker to the dealer and have a serious chat with them because the active fuel management is only on the tahoe, suburban, avalanche, and impala to the best of my knowledge. Plus I would be happy with that 14.1 mpg /city if I were you cuz I average around 12mpg city.

I just got my SS 3 weeks ago and I have 750 miles on it and I'm getting 12 to 13 mpg. I have filled up 4 times already. The sticker says 16 to 19. I really haven't pushed this thing yet. I am using super which is 91. I hope it gets better. Anyway, I love this SUV, it kicks ass.

Nope, AFM aka DOD is only on the 5.3L V8, the LS2 GM decided to be smart and not use AFM on a performance truck. I would have loved the extra mpg or two, but when I get an SS (just a matter of time) I want max performance and am willing to sacrifice a mpg or two for that.

Our 2006 2WD SS (LT) with Predator tune, 14K miles is getting a constant 12mpg with city driving. Got about 15-16 on the highway trip.

So don't get this car if you drive a lot or don't like paying a lot of $$ in gas :D Anyways, we still love this truck and don't mind the extra cost for fuel. :hail:

06 TBSS with 19,700 miles. DIC shows 15.8 mpg. It's around 16 mpg when I use the calculator on the cellphone. 75 miles to and from work, roughly 75% highway, 25% city driving. Using 93 octane, 10% ethanol, fuel.

What I noticed are the gas mileage is less on the ones that have the Predator tune installed which I dont understand because they state that the tune will improve fuel mileage as well as performance unless it is the way the gas pedal is used.

Usually, when you have a tune, your foot becomes heavier, so whatever MPG gains the tune may offer are usually not seen...at least that's the case with me and my Westers tune lol

But on the up-side, your mileage should be going up soon, when the refineries switch back to the summer blend of gasoline. The winter blend used in many states tends to yield 5-10% lower fuel economy than the summer blends. (The switch over is April 1st in most areas of the country).

I get about 14.2 with the predator "91 octane" tune.
The "diablo tune" which is the other tune the unit comes with, gets better gas mileage than stock. Not sure exactly what that is cause i keep mine on 91 tune.

Is that a 2WD truck, and with what rear end ratio? I've got the I6 4WD w/ 3.73 gears, but have never seen better than 16.4! One tank was a 9.9! WTF?

After 4,500 miles, my cumulative MPG is 12.5, but I am almost 100% around town driving. (3.5 miles to work)

Enjoy your trucks! Never calculate your MPG and never look at your DIC's MPG calculation!

When I drove an '04 Mach 1 daily (before trading it for this Envoy :weird: ) I never calculated my MPG, so somehow it never bothered me. If MPG is your concern, trade in for a Prius! :duh:

Words to live by! I stopped calculating a few thousands miles ago after realizing that no matter what it read, I wasn't going to get rid of the TB lol

As long as the drive/performance doesn't change, I could care less about the miles. Now if I feel that it's driving different, then I'll calculate to see if anythings wrong.

Well, my 03 TB with the I-6 was horrible one gas, averaging 12 or less in town, 14 on the highway, and it was 2WD. The dealer documented their own mileage test, filled it, drove it, then refilled it, got 10.3 mpg. I have this on the service report, and their comment was 4 WD gets worse mileage and winter (45F the day they tested it) is harder on gas mileage. I gave up after a year of pouring gas in it, bought an 04 Buick Rainier with the 5.3 ( the only short wheelbase V8 that year) and have averaged 16.5 over the last 7000 miles, and up to 22 on the highway at 65. Looking at a new SS, but a bit fearfull of the mileage. I have been telling GM to build a V8 hotrod Blazer since the early nineties, they finally do it right, and now I am nervous to buy in.

If you are worried about gas mileage, get an Aveo! :)

We have a GTO that gets 17/23 and a TBSS that gets 13/16... only live life once, so enjoy it! :) It's only money anyways....

I would think a 2WD would get better mileage since it has less parasitic losses. Did anyone get the optional 3.92 gear ratio with the 6.0? That should improve mileage.

If you really want to reach the the fuel economy numbers they put on the window sticker, you will have to drive under the same conditions they use for testing.

See http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/fe_test_schedules.shtml for the interesting details.

As mentioned earlier, if you are concerned about gas mileage, don't get the TBSS. I would MUCH rather have the 4.10 rear in my TBSS, than the 3.42. I can afford the possible 2 MPG loss with the increased performance I get.
