GTPprix 10-28-2005, 04:44 PM Well that didnt last long eh? Decided to do some SMALL mods today. What you ask?
Silverstar Headlamps for High/Low/Fogs. While these may seem like a novelty to most compared to the cost of a full HID conversion (which I may do anyhow) they do perform notably better than stock halogens IMO. For those wondering obviously the SS uses the same headlights but the new Fogs are 893's (So any 890 series should work in them).
Also added a K&N replacement filter. I dont think anyone makes a cold air kit for these trucks (at least the 5.3L?) so I decided to throw a K&N in for the time being until someone makes one or I get motivated and make my own. For reference it uses the same E-1009 that the 5.3L Trail/Voy uses :)
Envoy Fan 10-28-2005, 04:59 PM Good start.
Blulytes 10-28-2005, 05:10 PM I concur... nice start.
Dacomputernerd 10-28-2005, 05:13 PM  Sweet! good start you got goin :D
ieatglue 10-28-2005, 05:13 PM That's pretty good. Time for some big mods :D
ENVOY2LOW43 10-28-2005, 05:17 PM Are we gonna see 22's soon? As a member of this forum you are expected to spend a lot on mods you know...:D
1BADWS6 10-28-2005, 05:32 PM I think the "mods" in this section might be related to performance, not the bling.:rotfl: Then again I could be wrong. How 'bout a little shot of laughing gas!:D
GTPprix 10-28-2005, 05:36 PM No 22's next mod will be prototyping and exhaust system and then a little "boost" hehe
jimmyjam 10-28-2005, 06:08 PM No 22's next mod will be prototyping and exhaust system and then a little "boost" heheboost, aye? spicy....

If you change out your rims, even though its a no. i call dibs on your old ones
Jonzoso 10-29-2005, 03:20 AM Did you notice any difference with the K&N? Also, I notice that when driving on these wonderfully smooth Michigan highways with the foglights on, the lights jiggle. Well, actually they SHAKE. So, I thought they may be loose and checked them. It appears that the entire bottom half of the front bumber cover jiggles even if you touch it. Is yours this way, or is mine missing another bracket?
FattyTBEXT 10-29-2005, 08:31 AM Good start to the mods. Boost sounds kinda fun....
Dacomputernerd 10-29-2005, 09:53 AM Another  for the boost here!
Jman423 10-29-2005, 12:39 PM Yeah, just wait till the Wester's Tune comes out for the SS, that'll be a "boost".
GTPprix 10-29-2005, 02:00 PM Tuning isnt going to be an issue, I'll start working on that next week; however the boost I'm talking about comes from a blower ;)
Dacomputernerd 10-29-2005, 02:26 PM however the boost I'm talking about comes from a blower ;)
  DO IT!!! (and a hood scoop too)

Uh, what kinda blower?
ScarabEpic22 10-30-2005, 08:05 PM Uh, what kinda blower?
A big un!!:D
Running boost on the TB SS V8 would be sick!! There would be so much raw HP and TQ when you get a Westers to remove the TQ managament and account for the blower!!
GTPprix 10-30-2005, 09:57 PM Most likely a Magnacharger; we'll see.. I'll probably turn off the torque management this week when I start tuning it..
tb_ky 10-31-2005, 10:29 PM Does the SS use the same engine as the GTO? If so can you use GTO parts?
TrailblazerSS 11-01-2005, 09:00 AM Does the SS use the same engine as the GTO? If so can you use GTO parts?
Yes it is the same engine as the GTO and the Corvette. Depends on the part wether or not it will help.
Z06 Tom 11-03-2005, 01:22 PM Uh, what kinda blower?
Kinda like this'n...

nitrobusa 11-12-2005, 11:42 PM I'm going to give the guys at ColdFusionNitrous.com a call on Mon:yes: day and see If they have a wet system available for the SS yet.
GTPprix 11-12-2005, 11:52 PM Considering the fuel pump in this truck barely supports 450 horse I'm going to have to go with no.
Z06 Tom 11-14-2005, 12:43 PM I sent Magnacharger an email asking if the had plans to come out with a kit for the SS. They replied that at this time, they have no plans to produce a kit for it.:(

Hmm, I wonder why not. It would be a simple matter to test fit one. They now have an SSR kit for sale which is, in effect, the same motor and drivetrain. I would think the only issue to hash out would be intercooler placement. Maybe people need to call and let them know there is demand for a blower for the TBSS?
While that is going on, perhaps members here should be contacting Kenne Bell and Whipple to see what their plans are.
Z06 Tom 11-14-2005, 01:03 PM Is the kit for the SSR for the 6.0 LS2 model, or the 5.3 liter version?

Yup, and they wont sell me parts of the SSR kit either. I can make it work but I'm not buying the whole thing when I only need a few key parts. So I've moved on to most likely using a small 5-6psi Rotrex kit.
Is the kit for the SSR for the 6.0 LS2 model, or the 5.3 liter version?
It's for the LS2 with the 6-speed manual and the 14-bolt, 9.5" rear.
I don't understand why they aren't doing this. I think more people need to call them.
Chris, did they allude to why they aren't doing a kit for the TBSS?
GTPprix 11-14-2005, 01:28 PM Nope, they werent really interested in dealing with me after the experience I had with thier GTO kit. Maybe if more of you guys hounded them ;) In the mean time we are going to pursue the Rotrex kit.

Hmm, I am at a disadvantage. What happened with the GTO?
GTPprix 11-14-2005, 02:23 PM Had major issues with heatsoak due to them slicing the intercooler basically in half to fit it under the hood. Only made 82 extra to the tires and by the third or fourth pull less than stock.

So I'm guessing they got that issue resolved, as there are more than a few Goats now running that blower now. Were you on the front end of development with the GTO?
Do you think there is more room under the bonnet of the TBSS (and GTO for that matter) than there was the GTO? Otherwise you'd have the same issue, correct?
Also, are you saying that there is some bad blood between you and Magnuson that precludes you from being able to work with them? That with someone else it might be better?
GTPprix 11-14-2005, 02:58 PM If you want to discuss this off the board I'd be happy to :)
