Uhm....Why?
You need the tranny.....
You need to elimnate the transfer Case, get a longer drive shaft for the rear, remove the front drive shaft, front Differential (like a14 hr job).
Then you probably have to do some reprogramming too...
I bet it's cheaper to get a 2wd TB...

Tranny is the same, just pull the TC off, longer driveshaft, remove front driveshaft, maybe some programming stuff too.

are u sure that the tranny is the same ?
Wouldn't the computers freak out also without reprogramming? I'm sure the vehicle's computers thinks it is a 4x4.

I'm sure if we left the truck into 2wd and we take the trans out, it wouldn't interfere...
either way, labour costs are dead cheap in q8 so thats not a problem...

are u sure that the tranny is the same ? I am sure the tranny is the same, BUT, when u remove the transfer case, u will lose the yoke for the front of the drive shaft. After the xfer case is removed, a new yoke can be installed on the tail of the tranny. Then u will need a longer driveshaft. That is the easy part. The front-end will need to be rebuilt after u remove the drive axles. You'll need a parts list front a 2 wd vehicle. Have fun.

Just turn the switch all the way to the left wher it says "2wd." And BAM! You've got 2wd. :D

as i was told... they are looking for lighter weight... which the only difference between 2wd and 4x4 is only 167 pounds... personly i still dont see the cost and the labor really being worth it... i'm sure there are other places u can lose weight at that woudl be easier... but thats what they want to do and all the power to u and good luck

Yes, but you would gain horsepower to the wheels by eliminating the transfer case and the second driveshaft.
If you want to "lose" weight, your best option is to remove parts of the interior and other items that don't affect the mechanical abilities of the truck (IE - spare tire, windshield washer reservior, A/C (which would gain horsepower also), plastic engine shrouds, cutting uneccesary plastic from fender wells, etc).

Yea The Horse U Would Gain Is Maybe 5-10 Tops... But By The Time It Gets To Rear Wheels U'll Be Lucky If U Get 1hp Out Of It At All...
