View Full Version : TB EXT Lift Kit ??

I was disappointed to see how my clearance was reduced after installing running boards recently on my 2005 Trailblazer LS EXT. If I had to take it into the rough, or even down a rutted road, I'm pretty sure the running boards would be the first casualties. I think I need to raise it up by 3" or so, just for peace of mind. So, I'm wondering what's available in the way of modest lift kits for the TrailBlazer EXT... ???

i think you're pretty much out of luck as of right now. As far as i'm aware the only lift kit they make for the trailblazer is from japan. You might want to check out suspension maxx spacers. It's not going to get you 3 inches...but maybe another inch and a half.

Is it possible to stack the Maxx spacers to get you 3 inches?

Check suspensionmaxx (http://www.suspensionmaxx.com). I know that the rears are stackable. Not sure about the fronts. :m2:

From what i can tell, both front and rear are stackable, but they don't say specifically under the "Trailblazer XL" (and someone should tell them its EXT not XL)

Yeah, maybe you should email them about that. :D

I'd like to throw some of their spacers on and some bigger, more aggressive tires.

That's a nice-looking TB in the pic on their site. Maybe a current/future TrailVoy member? :undecided

Yeah, those Maxx spacers are available for front and rear, and they certainly appear to stack.

Awe right...finally a thread on spacers, I was getting worry why there isn't much on lifting our TBs. It almost seemed like we all here prefer to lower. Total cost I could see for lifting both the rear and front would be approx. $250 or so in my est. including the labor.

How would lift the TB effect the ride?

If you all are interested in getting lift kits check out the Custom Motor Sports in Website that is where I am going to get my 3" lift kit with a 1.5" wheel spacer for my 02 TB. They are the ones from Japan and they are pretty reasonably priced. I will post pictures when mine is done, I will be getting my lift in a month or two, I just dropped some money on the Pioneer Avic d1, and I want to get my stereo and interior done first and also pay off some other bills first. www.custommotorsports.com

Are you going to get the suspension kit or the body kit?

I was looking at that 3" kit for $399 at CMS, but guess what... When you select the "BUY" button, you get an empty window that says "No Products Available" or something like that. Already sold out?

I'm going to get the Suspension kit, But I got to pay off a few bills first and am waiting for my tires to wear down a bit more, I'm planning on doing the lift in about 2-3 months. I haven't decided on the body lift yet. I found a picture of a TB with the suspension lift on the chevytruckworld.com website but I am waiting to see pics of this guys TB with the body lift first. I think a 3" body lift might take away from the look I am going for, but who knows. Check out the link though, this guys TB looks real clean.

I sent them an email, and it seems like they buy direct from the company in Japan that makes the kits. They probably don't keep those lifts in stock because they aren't in high demand, like all of the parts for the TB everywhere I have been. To get parts for my TB at all of the places that I go I get told "they have to order them because they say it isn't a common car that people do mods too". I guess they have never been to trailvoy.com.

well man, there is not much out there for lifts, but it is possible. you can get a custom lift. i am planning on going with a 4'' with 31 tires or a 6'' with 33's. for a good example go to this website. <LI class=first>www.russellwhitemotorsports.com click on our work, then GM, click on trailblazer and there you go. there are some great pics of a custom 4'' lift.

Man, im looking for around 3" to 4" front and rear, but i heard on the 4WD models they have to modify the roll pan?

Also i think a body lift looks dinkey on a TB, much rather have a suspension lift for clearence.

I'm interested in sticking a spacer in the front to level off the TB and counter the "rack" effect. Wondering what is involved...Can I simply remove the front coils and stick in the spacer and bolt it back on? Would I need a spring compressor. After the installation would I need to balance/align my tires? Any info is greatly appreciated.

It is that simple Ive heard, remove strut, compress spring with compressor, so you need one, and bolt it back on. Dont know about allignment, but go to the les schwab in your area (if there is one) and have them check it. If it needs it, they will do it and charge you, if not, they pull your TB off the lift and hand you the keys and say have a nice day, (usually) no charge. I would ask to make sure though, as I get free allignments and rotations since I bought my tires from them, but I didnt buy the tires from my RX300 and they still check it for free (with both vehicles in at different times), so I dont know.

(Was that a long enough answer? whew;) )

it looks like the coil spacer that goes ontop of the coil and under the strut cap will preload your coilsprings for a stiffer ride for sure. i am waiting for somebody to come out with the spacer that bolt onto the top of the strut the goes back in only 1-2" lower in turn lifting the front without the preload. as for alignment anytime you disassemble the front suspension alignment must be done or else kiss goodbye your handling and tires and gas mileage
