Hello all! I am thinking of buying either a used 06 GMC Envoy or an 06 Trailblazer SS. I have taken both for a spin, and its obvious which vehicle has the edge in the fun factor. Being an owner of a Corvette, I am lured to the SS with the LS2 motor.

I have a few questions. If I do buy an SS it will be the AWD since I live in the snow belt in Ontario.

1)What do these trucks run at the track in TOTALLY bone stock trim?

2)What are the repair problems that are common?

3)What go fast goodies can be installed that WON'T void the warranty? I was thinking of CAI, and pulleys possible. I am knew to the SS scene so I am hoping the guys who have done mods can help me out. Another 40-50 chp would be nice.

4)What is involved in taken off the 130mph governor if need be, and what do these trucks top out at, and are they stable at those speeds? Truck was still pullin at 130mph.

5)What fuel mileage can one expect? I would love to hear 2 opinions if you can: 1)Driving aggressively. 2)Out for a cruise on the highly keeping the rev's low, and not pinning the pedal down.

Thanks alot guys. Can't wait to hear the answers.

I have a 2wd 06 SS, I could be a little off with some of this but I am sure someone will chime in if I am:

1. Should be very low 14
2. I havent had any probs so far(knock on wood)others have had some issues, which you can find just by glancing at some posts or doing a search.
3. & 4. A tune, definitely a tune, this will eliminate the governor help with the shifts and give it little more go, all I have is intake and tune. I have had it at 110 mph and it feels like 60 in my wifes civic.
5. I only drive 4.5 miles one way to work and I am 90% city and I get about 12.5 mpg, on the highway it will get about 16 or so, but I only cruise at 80 - 85 no less, supposedly they do much better at about 70

Hope this helps

Thanks. Where would someone go for a tune with the AWD? Do you just take the unit out, and ship it to a tuner like Alvin at PCM? How much also?

Thanks.

1. low 14's for and awd and high 13's for a 2wd
2. repair problems are just like any other car or truck
3. go fast goodies...tune, cai, pulleys, efans, headers, low temp t stat and none of these should void your warranty unless they cause them and the dealer can prove it
4.130 top speed will be removed at your request or set high with a tune and i have done a little over 140 and it seemed fine to me but i slowed due to the tire speed rating. another member has gone almost 160 tracked by gps
5. i average 14 since i got the truck i reset it 2 times and i do not drive like a girl and i am awd too

Thanks with a tune/cai/efans/low temp t start, what power could one expect? And possible a catback? Not sure on the headers.

I have the Vector tune, CAI and HSRK , ran a 13.6 I am AWD. Catback will only change the tone, not to much power to be had unless you do headers with it as well. If you do headers, you will need to have the tune redone.

Do you have a link to the Vector tune? How much is it, and does it void the warranty?

So the catback is just for sound? No gains?
