Just installed a custom made intake and heat shield (both powdercoated) and a Jet Throttle Body Spacer.

Most noticeable is the improved throttle response and the sound of the engine when under load. Sounds great especially since the silencer was removed.

Looks good!

What is that little K&N filter for? Right behind the oil fill area.

Looks like a breather, which are purely for show, serve no purpose.

Cory, is that the Jet throttle body spacer at the end of the powdercoated tubing (looks blue) ?

To further elaborate....The little breather filters do nothing but create a lack of top end crank case ventilation. The hose that that little filter replaces acts as a vacuum and helps suck the crank vapors out while under hard acceleration. Replacing the stock hose with that little filter looking breather has caused some guys in my car club to fail emissions inspection.

I like the idea of improved throttle response, but I like the look of the silencer on mine. That's one of the reasons I want a Volant. Gonna try to keep the silencer. :m2:

Yeh, he did mention that on his post. I wonder how much louder it is without the silencer? I would rather keep the noise level down. And the Vortec insignia looks cool too.

thanks for the compliments....

the small filter is just a breather for crankcase ventilation.....it simple replaces a hose that connects to the stock air tube.

yes, that blue plate is the Jet TB Spacer.

The engine is not any louder at all with the silencer off when under normal throttle, but when under hard acceleration, it is moderately louder. It has a nice deep throaty sound to it now which I like very much.

the Jet TB spacer does give a slight whistle when first pressing the gas, but is barely noticeable.
