A lot of lowering kits require you to disable the 4WD, however I believe Beltech makes a lowering kit for the 4WD trucks that lets you maintain it.

the kit for the 2wd and 4wd are the same. the only reasn belltech says 2wd is because their test vehicle was a 2wd. a lot of members have 4wd and belltech and dont have a problem. thats why you cant find any topics about it. youre good to go and the shop shouldnt disable your 4wd

It might sit a little lower in the rear but it will fit.

I also have the Belltech and 4WD

yea, i'm bringing this one back to life...

I'm looking to get a TB possibly, and i wasn't sure if i wanted 4x4 cause i wanted to lower it, but i was pretty happy when i found this thread searching.

Here's my question, are only the BellTech and Ground Force kits known to work on a 4x4 without issues? I just want to make sure that if i lower a 4x4 that everything will still function correctly with now problems.

Sorry I must be dumb but why buy a 4X4 then remove the ground clearence are these trucks designed to be used on bad roads or what.:confused:

The only kit that won't work 100% is the DJM kit. It's main lowering piece will NOT work on 4X4

4WD isn't only for off roading. It's only been turned into that misconseption (sp?) It's also great for getting out of snow where a 2WD willl most likely get stuck in. Granted 4WD isn't guarenteed to get you out but it'll deff help. I'm glad I have 4WD cause it's gotten me out of some messed up and embarising situations

agreed  it helped me a LOT at slippery roads " rain and sand " if i didnt have a 4X4 i would've been involved in an accident or would've damaged something :ugh::yes::cool:

I also agree with you that 4x4 isn't only for off-roading. But ... even if you are talking about driving in snow ... less ground clearance would make driving in deeper snow difficult because you would start pushing snow with the bumper/undercarriage/etc and at that point wouldn't make a difference if you had 4x4 or not.

And lowered trucks look better:thumbsup:

Definitely disagree here.   But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

i'm well aware of the lowering a 4x4 argument, and i can see where you guys are coming from. the reason why i want to is because i like being low, and even with a 2/3 drop on a TB the ground clearance is still decent enough that with winter tires i'll make it around winter just fine. i've driven plenty of lowered vehicles through winters so i'm not too worried about it in the snow, from the pictures i've seen these lowered still have a lot more ground clearance than what i've driven through winter before.

Well this is like my S-10, i like the 4x4 only cause we get the occasional snow, but i wouldnt want a lifted DD. I like a lower center of gravity to help with cornering, and i like the look of a lowered truck. The only difference with my TB and my S-10 was that it was really hard to find a 2wd blazer that didnt have rust, wasnt modified to some extreme or that was even for sale. I found several 2wd TB's but they either didnt come in a color i liked, didnt have crap for options, or i just didnt like them overall.

Good to hear that it will still work for you.

I have absolutely no experience with a lowered vehicle ... so I'm definitely learning from this thread. Just wanted to put my train of thought up for comments to educate me.

I bet 90% of 4x4 never see any off road action. I know I'm in that 90%. I couldn't stand another scratch!

I wouldn't off-road it anyways, I don't like to wheel DD's, if something breaks I'm screwed. But I like the idea on a low 4x4, especially come winter :D
