I know we're all SS FREAKS here! But will it sell with the public? I know that GM had orginally slated 20,000 SS to be built. My fear is that w/ current gas prices that they are going to have a hard time pushing the SS to the "regular Joe" that walks in. Or the husband who's wife tells him to go out and get an SUV for the family, as quoted by the Chevy GM to the press.
1 - Will they still build the 20,000 SS'?
2 - Will dealerships be stuck with them on the lots, and forced to discount?
3 - With the current gas market, do you still plan on buying one?

Could be wrong but I don't think they are gonna have any problems selling them.

Hate to say it, but I think GM is gonna have a lot of trouble selling 20K of them. Although I love it, its a novelty vehicle. Seriously, when the dealerships don't know anything about them, than you can be positive the public knows even less about them. Unless GM has some huge marketing plan up their sleeve, I think we can count on the TBSS being a fairly rare vehicle. Honestly, you have to really want the performance to be willing to pony up over $30K for a Trailblazer when you can buy a loaded non-SS for like $27K or less. The average Joe just doesn't care about going fast that much. Look at the sales of the GTO. Its a fantastic car for the price, but the dealerships couldn't give away the 04's, and the deep discounts are showing up on the 05's!

I don't think they will build 20k. Where was that stated by GM anyway?
I agree that the average Joe is not going to pony up the extra $5k for the SS option package.
I am not the average Joe and the gas prices have not deterred me! In fact, gas prices are now down around here from the high of $3.50 to $2.40.
I still plan on getting one next year if I can do it for $25k or less after all applicable rebates. It's going to be hard for me to rack up the GM Card Earnings though. I just used them up a few months ago on a Silverado.

I think they'll have a very hard time selling them. I bet it will be gone in 3 years as much as I hate to admit it. :(

I think it's only going to be a 1 model year run anyway. I don't think they'll spend the time/money to develop an SS version of the '07 TB.
But this probably will help resale value though...

It will be a mimimum of a two year run. The new TB is an '08 model. GM would not have spent the money to develop the truck if it was only going to be produced one year.

Someone please show me where I can buy a loaded TB non SS for 27K. I will take 2. The loaded ones that I see on the lots are between 35-39K.

Go to KBB.com and configure one the way you want. You can see both MSRP and invoice. There should be no reason why you can't order one for $500 over invoice; this is the standing deal with most all of the dealerships here in SoCal.
The SS is not a special vehicle, it is simply an option/package on a regular 2WD or 4WD Trailblazer (as the system sees it). Don't let anyone tell you any different.
Go directly to the internet sales manager of your local dealer for the best price, they're used to dealing with people who know their stuff. Your haggling should be very short. If you play your cards right, you could do even better.

Well, Edmunds.com and others think the new TB will be an '07 model...

I agree with TBSS go directly to the internet sales manager of your local dealer for the best price. Very little or no haggling...most of my purchases were at or near invoice price, with a couple of exceptions.

I take the approach of emailing several dealers and I communicate as much as possible over email before I give them my number or I go in the dealership. Sometimes I've even sent all the dealers one email and asked who can give me the best price! That really gets them competing against one another. It's like they all have to walk into "my dealership" and battle for my business!!!
