So heres the deal, my buddy just bought a loaded 07 G35 and takes delivery in may. He has been talking all kinds of smack about my 06 SS 2wd not keeping up with his Infinity, so naturally i told him to put some money on it. So far my SS is bone stock but i plan to do a superchips programmer soon.
What do you guys think, did i put my foot in my mouth or what??? stats are pretty comparable

I would just mention the fact that he got the 07 instead of the much improved 08 G37. Also what trans did he get cause the manual has 20 more hp and obviously its the quicker of the G35's. Then also if he ordered the 6 speed you have to assume that he could miss a gear. Are you guys just gonna race on the street? If its a quarter mile or more I think the SS's 100+ hp advantage will really come inot play but if its just a short race I think he will have you by a small amount maybe half a car or so.

very true, i raced my boy's 06 G35 6 speed manual with brembo brakes, the works. Honestly, its not as fast as u think it is, but it will take u bone stock. I was keepin up pretty well, but he was also poppin the clutch everytime he shifted, so that would allow me to catch up a bit everytime cuz his tires would screech for a while before they cought traction. With a good tune, and maybe even a cai would do the trick well:thumbsup:

i beg to differ... ive fooled around with a 2d g35, i really didnt talk to him, we just fooled around a bit, and its def not as fast as the tbss, from a light, i took about 3 cars on him, and it pretty much stayed the same..

I have a G35 coupe auto. bone stock...Im waiting for my TBSS which just arrived at the dealership... The TBSS is def. faster, take it from someone who uses it everyday. Now if you were to talk about the M45 then I would reconsider:hail:

A guy I work with has an 06 G35 two door stick. We touched em off on the highway one day. I have an 06 AWD bone stock. He got the jump on me while we were rolling at about 45. I blew by him like he was standing still. Ran a couple of times, same result. There is also a woman here that has a G35 sedan that is always talking trash about beating my SS. He went out of his way to come by and tell her not to even bother tryin:D

a g35 is definetly not as quick as a stock tbss. They are the same car as a 350z, only a little slower.....and the tbss will smoke a z all day long.

Another one that surprised me was the Charger R/T. I thought those were fast, but not even close to the SS! Took off from a light next to a new Red R/T. He had his wife/GF with him, and apparently wanted to show off. I was minding my own business when he stomped it, prompting me to react. Made him look like a 5th grade girl with the SS......

Hmm, what about my stock 02 LS vs a G35? I have a friend with an IS250 and one with a G35, whenever we caravan somewhere (in my S10) they leave me like 3 lights behind. Will this still happen (And I'm a pretty evasive driver, so it's not like I wasn't trying to keep up with them)

AN LS...sorry man...i think u will get toasted....a z and a g35 are still a mid 14's in the 1/4

I figured, nothing to be sorry about, I'll see what I can do once I go home for the summer. I can still do stuff in the back of my vehicle that they can't.

i'd reconsider the superchips programmer. most people that have bought programmers have sold them and went with a tuner (vector, tune time, etc.). but other than that i think you'd take him, but i would wait until i had a tune of some sort done

Hey Matt, where do you get that info? If you are counting, I'm a SuperChips owner who is happy and staying put.

I imagine the custom tunes are fine and good, maybe far better than mine, but I think if you read all the posts from SuperChips owners you will see the traits that many were looking for: better shifting, revert back to stock any time, measurable improvement in times.

a TBSS will definatley beat a stock g35 but put a couple mods and it is untouchable

Just out of curiosity--is everyone ditching the traction control/tq management when they are playing around with other cars?

the g35 or the tbbss is untouchable? Cause mods for the g35/350 are expensive as hell. Other than a cold air kit or a new lower plenum......turbos will be 4-6 grand for the z and g35.

im talking about the G35 is untouchable....the mods for it are slightly over priced but they also give you more gains then you would think

if you're happy good for you :)

but take a look at the 'for sale' sections of a couple sites and you'll see SEVERAL programmers for sale with the owners going to a mail order/dyno tune or even in rare cases buying the software to do the programming themselves

Cool, just wanted to make sure your statistics were solid since you said most are selling...

Glad to see you had a good source.

Just giving you trouble :)

I had an 06 G35 and got rid of it after 3 months. Slowwwww. It just like all japanese cars.....you gotta ride the redline to get any power out of them. My TBSS is way faster period !!

hmm dont know about that...i had a 350 z and was in a couple of clubs....and anything near even 350 rwp was costing it 2-3 grand. I ran a z with a new upper and lower plenum, cold air in my tbss before any mods and it was toast.

The 2007 G35's have an improved 3.5(if it is the newer bodystyle 4dr) I read 13.9@103 with a 6spd in the Oct 06 Car & Driver so be on your game

a couple mods? at what cost? you need to re-evaluate your statement, it couldn't be further from the truth (and this comes from someone who runs mid 12s with not much done...at all).. tally up the mods/$$$ to get a G35 there, reliable and post it..

Exactly!!!. A g35 is a nice car...don't get me wrong...but like Tony says...look at the dollars u have to spend. The g35/350z will do nothing naturally aspirated. You will eitheir need thr greddy twin turbo or aps kit...which is 4- 5 grand easily. And thats if u dare running high boost on a stock motor. Thier cool cars, but thier not like supras that can run at 20-30psi boost on a stock motor. Take what ever amount u would invest on mods on them and put the same amouny on a ls2 and its no contest.
