What kind of average fuel economy (indicated on the display) are you folks seeing in real-world usage with the DOD-enabled 5300 V8?

I was pleasantly surprised that our new '06 is pulling 18.9-19.2mpg in regular commute/local use. I reset it for a ~1100 mile weekend trip and saw 20.3mpg average across the full trip including some running around in the mountains of Kentucky.

This is on a 2006 Envoy Denali with 5300 DOD and 3.42 axle. We've got around 3000 miles on it at this point, so it's starting to get broken in.

My parents have an 05 tb ext v8 that gets only about 15 mpg when my mom's driving. But when I drive, I can manage 20 without a problem.

Just Curious. What were you getting mathmatically? Miles Driven / Gallons.

My computer seems a bit generous. My wife drives it most of the time so I have not compared it myself.

To be honest, I have no clue. :duh: If I can remember (I'm a F.O.G.), I'll try to do some "real" calculations.

I don't have the driver information center, so these are my calculated numbers, estimated based on 20,000 miles of driving and miles per each tank. If i'm verrrrry easy and careful, I can get average least 22 mpg on the highway.

im sure with the V8's they put smaller rear-ends to compensate for better gas mileage, because they are 3 different rear-ends for our trucks (3.42, 3.73, 4.10)
