Does anyone know if it is possible to just plug-n-play manual a/c controls(LS) with the automatic a/c controls(LT)?

We are still getting used to the Trailblazer but the one thing we miss the most about our previous SUV is the outside temperature reading. Doesn't the automatic a/c control have that feature? Has anyone tried this?
Thanks
Matt

The guys discussed this in a previous thread. They said that it couldn't be that easy... I'll post the link if i find it

a more viable option is to get an aftermarket rearview mirror with external thermometer. check ebay &/or google

Thanks for the posted link, but I guess I will just keep what I have rather than rewiring anything.

jimmyjam,
I have thought about getting an external rearview mirror but with OnStar I didn't think that would work too well.

Thanks,
Matt

This is definitely the easiest way to go if you're mainly interested in the temp reading. Plus most mirrors that display the temp include a compass too (all are automatic dimming). You can probably find one for ~$75 or less.

You will need a $20 temp sensor for the temp readout to work though. The compass unit is self-contained in the mirror, so there are no extra parts for that.

I also miss the outside temperature, auto dimming mirror, and compass on my previous truck. The tinted windows keep down mirror glare, I can live with pulling the compass out of my center console when needed, which leaves outside temperature. I went to Walmart for $10 and got a Bell digital inside/outside temperature monitor from the automotive section. It just sticks on my dash to the left of the steering column and a little wire runs into the kick panel, through the side panel on the dash, and under the door seal with the sensor sticking to the door jamb just behind the door seal, You cant even see the wire, and the monitor is not in the middle of the dash, so unless your sitting in the drivers seat, you really dont even see it. I dont plan on keeping the truck forever, so it works for now. For me, if i had an extra $100 for mods, I would install OEM fog lights before an auto dimming mirror.

Thanks, I thought about running one of those thermometers I guess that is what I will do.

I bought a scan gauge that will scan all the different sensors in the TB, mainly for the transmission temperature. The closest sensor to the outside air temperature is the Air Intake Sensor but that really isn't a valid reading. Oh well.

What is this scan device if it can measure tranny temp? I am looking at a regular guage that reads the tranny fluid temp returning from the radiator, but I know there has to be some way to get a digital readout of the tranny temp sender already installed, just havent figured out how to yet. If it works, let me know!

ScarabEpic22,
The scan gauge is an "Intercepter" by AeroForce Technology. (www.aeroforcetech.com) It is pretty cool. I bought it mainly for monitoring my transmission temperature while towing. It will read many of the different sensors throughout your TB from the air intake temp to the transmission temp to the psi of the intake manifold, etc. And the best thing about it is it is an all in one gauge and you don't have to install anything but the gauge. It plugs directly into your obd2 port and only requires a 12v line to power it. I installed it in under 15 minutes. I will post some pictures for those interested. If anyone has any questions, let me know.
Thanks
Matt

Sweet man!!
Now I dont have to get an external tranny guage, just this one!
Please post some pics of your install so I can get a few mounting ideas.

Thanks!

EDIT: They are a little pricey, about 4x more than the tranny temp guage I was planning on getting, but I looked at all of the things this guage can do, and it will more than pay for itself in no time. Plus, I see on the website that they also make a white rimmed guage with a black face and white LCD screen. Perfect for my all white TB!!! I am definately going to get one of these soon, hopefully before spring rolls around! Until then, I will only be able to do a thing or two to my TB with a total of about $250-300 a month. Including wear items, like the swaybar links that I am ordering tomorrow and the alarm system on Monday. Yay, Erik gets remote start!!!

I'm thinking it'll have to go on the A pillar? I can't visualize it anywhere else. The web page says it doesn't scan everything on every vehicle so I'm curious to know what it will scan on an Envoy and what it wont? Matt, anything it doesn't scan on your truck? I would think the diagnostic on yours would be the same as mine? Gonna have to get the blue/black with silver bezel....

Speaking of A-pillar Andrew, does anybody know where I can get an A-pillar guage mount for this?

I very briefly looked last night on 2 sites and didn't come up with anything. Definitely looking forward to Matt's pics when he uploads them. I'm guessing I know one thing you will be looking for today on the internet. I have to go make some $$$ to pay for these mods.
