Not to keep talking about rims but I notice on the Chevrolet Equinox the standard rims are 17's. I have a 02 Trailblazer LT 4wd and only have the 16 inch rims. Why didn't all the Trailblazers come with at least 17 or bigger rims.I notice in the 02 and 03 Trailblazers only the EXT or random ordered Trailblazers have 17 inch rims.My father-in-law even laughs at my rims and say they are too small for my truck . I have to keep hope alive and try to score some rims in the near future. Can somebody shed some light why a smaller and lighter SUV by Chevy comes with standard bigger rims ?

You sort of answered your own question, The Equinox just came out and the TB you own is a few years old already. Smaller rims do allow for a much smoother ride than larger ones, and OEM's are just now catching on that people like the larger rim sizes available. Like was mentioned in the post above the new ones come with the 17" standard...

My suggetion is get take-off 17's off ebay. Or go to a tire/rim place and see if they have any take-off 17's.

To one up your family, get the 20's from the SS!!!

I'm almost positive '02+ Trailblazer LTZ models (top of the line) came standard with 17" rims. So try to find a junkyard with an LTZ if you're looking for used stock rims.

That's what my 03 LTZ came with!

I wouldn't be disappointed about not getting 17's...

There isn't as much variety to select from for replacement tires

The 16's are much more versatile with tire selection... In my opinion there should be 3 wheel options 16's, 18's, and 20's

I'm hating on myself with 17 inch rims...

Of course there's a wide variety of tires that can fit a 17" rim, we don't have much selection at our 245/65 17 range that is appropriate for our stock 17's...

you're not going to be able to put a 205 or 345 width on the stock rim... You can start to worry about rub with even a 255... 10mm width difference

All I was complaining about is the lack of variety of tires available at our appropriately sized 245/65 17 (about 25 good quality tires) range whereas the standard 16 size 245/70 16 has nearly double the amount of tires available for the size (about 50 good quality tires)

Again, I don't know all that much in depth of tires, but from my understanding each rim has a standard width, hight and diameter that allows for the optimal result.

All I know is I'm having trouble finding a great tire for my 17's that is in our OEM tire size... a lot of mediocre tires that I've had poor experience with, with a lot of $200 michelins

I went with a 255 tire and haven't had any rubbing problems.

I know, I'm just really frustrated trying to replace these crappy continental tires, without much variety for our size

I got 4 brand new '05 17" rims from a dealership in CA off ebay for 290 shipped. A big improvement to the looks and ride of my 2003 LS.

EBAY is the way to go.

Just :m2:

I know this is old but I didn't want to start a new thread and couldn't find an exact answer elsewhere.

Would a P26570R17 tire fit on the stock 17" rims? My mom is going to replace her tires on her new tahoe (the before mentioned size, Bridgestone Duelers AT or something or other, less than 1,000 miles) because she wants only Michelins. She would rather give them to me than that get a store credit but I needed to know if they would fit. Right now, I just have those crappy stock conti's.

they might have the 17" wheels due to the brake size

LT265/70R17 is what Roadie is running.
They fit the stock rims...
I believe they should fit stock suspension... ask him though.

 No way those will fit stock suspension. He had suspension spacers, rear airbags, HD shocks, and wheel spacers, and he also trimmed the wheel wells a bit :m2:

What he said. The tires fit the rims just fine. But you couldn't put those rims right on a stock vehicle. Observe how close the upper control arm is to a stock tire.

Mine came with 17's, but I would have preferred 16's... there are more tires available for that size.

Rim size does nothing for me, i'd just want them to look nice...

Step it up by going with the 22's. On the stock suspension 22's look great and no rubbing with 265/35/22 tires.

I am running 22's and couldn't be happier.:raspberry

I think that the TB/Envoy/Rainer and 9-7 should have 18" factory wheels to just fill out the wheel wells more. The only thing is that the Equinox and Torrent come with 16" wheels standard on the LS and LT-1, however the 17" wheels are standard on the LT-2

One thing I really liked about the 9-7x was the standard wheel package. A good friend of mine only commented on them when he saw the truck for the first time...and he is notoriously hard to please. The 18" standard wheels are very nice...and the stock rubber is exceptional. Weird thing is Saab's site is listing the standard tire size as P225/55R while every 9-7x I've seen has P255/55R. I figured it was a typo so I emailed Saab to be sure and they responded back that they didn't know.:undecided The 16" on my Trooper are less expensive however...one side benefit I suppose.
