Hey everyone, I'm new here.

My father just bought an AWD TrailBlazer SS about a week ago. Although a 2WD version probably would have been more fun, it really wasn't an option considering this is his DD for work, and may need to occasionally see some bad road conditions.

So I began contemplating what might be involved in a 4WD t-case swap. The simplest I could come up with was a NP243 from a mid-nineties Tahoe/Suburban/etc. Does anyone see any blatant problems with this swap? IIRC, the 4L70E has a different output shaft than the 4L60E, but do they share the same dimensions/spline count? Also, is the AWD case hooked into any other electronic systems in the vehicle? sensors etc.?

Thanks.

I would think you would wanna go with the nv261h/d with the 1-1/2 chain should be a lil stronger....
The 243 only has 1-1/4 chain
The output on the trans should still be the 27 spline just like the 60e.
Maybe build a 261hd with the plain 261 input so you can run the thick chain. Otherwise upgrade to the 80e and its 32 spline input.
I just picked up a 263xhd I wanna see what is good in there.
Just thought about the nv246hd they used in full size suv's and gmt800 since 236 used in trailblazer and 246 are very similar.....
Wish I had time to really look into this to see what would work best.

I'd like to avoid an autotrac case. IIRC, the regular 246 has a pretty bad reputation with the 4X4 crowd... not really familiar with the HD version. The nv263 looks promising. That's an e-shift case, non-autotrac, no center differential, correct?
