I was on a road test in my avalanche with a GM tech, trying to rerpoduce a noise I heard in my truck. I see a red TB in the median. As we got closer, I noticed the unmistakable bumper that it was an SS. As we pass it, I see 24" dubs on it. If you ask me, Dubs dont belong on an SS. MY opinion of course. On a sad note, I think it was broke down, as noone was in side it.

:iagree: totally!! 24's don't look good on non-SS's either. Overkill!

The original term "dubs" came from those with 22" (Double Deuce) inch rims on their whips. Once the rim market exploded, everybody started using the term for every size rim above 20's. :m2:

I do agree that 24s don't belong on a TBSS. IMHO

far as I can tell it was a true SS. The standard "twinkies" or 20s do look sharp. AS most of you seem to agree, the larger matchbox car tires, do not belong. Maybe on the school bus size SUVs, but not our TBs, or sedans. I seen a guy over her put 27s on his mid 90s grand marquise. He colud barely drive the thing...if you ask me, it shouldnt have been road worthy.

Dont forget the EMmit Smiths. lol. I think 22's are about as big as id go on a TB. I have yet to see one with 24's, but i guess they fit. Hey to each his own, if your ballin like that, and want to spend for the extra 2 in rim and -2 in tire, who am I to judge.

oh boy... here's one definition..

dub n. an automobile wheel measuring twenty inches in diameter

here's some more..

Dictionary definition of “dub”. dub n. an automobile wheel measuring ... to cross the 20-inch wheel threshold by unveiling its own line of dub-size rims

A dub is a wheel (http://www.answers.com/topic/wheel) or rim (http://www.answers.com/topic/rim-11) that is 20 inches in diameter. The term dub is a slang term for twenty, from "double dime" or two tens.[1] (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=dub) Some can be chrome (http://www.answers.com/topic/chrome) or polished aluminum (http://www.answers.com/topic/aluminium)-alloy. Rims that are below 20 inches in diameter are referred to as sub-dubs. Dubs are now often 22 inches in diameter, but can be even larger all the way to 26's and 28's.

I get all my cars including my TB's at CHarper chevrolet which supplied the 2006 Escalade to Hines Ward for winning the Super Bowl XXX MVP. I watched him pick it up there with his choice of Rims and he left with 26" chromes. He does all of there commercials also. There is a black 2007 DHS on the showroom floor right now that they are having trouble getting rid of that Hines drove to the practice field...the whole roof is scratched up from him throwing his duffle bag and other equipment up on the roof!
