Starting yesterday my TB started idling extremely rough. Additionally, when in park I hear a clicking sound coming from the engine compartment. I investigated under the hood and the noise does not appear to be coming from the fan or belts. Thus far, I have cleaned by throttle body and removed my throttle body space but am still have the same issues. The engine is stock except for my Volant CAI which I put on several thousand miles ago and to date had not had any problems. I have a service appoint on Monday, thankfully the car is still under warranty. Just wondering if anyone else is or has had the same issue?
Certainly I will let you know what the diagnosis is.
Thanks

Has the check engine light come on or flashed?

Yep, the check engine light has flashed a couple of times. Forgot to mention my mileage is 17K

Flashing check engine light = do not drive!
This indicates a misfire condition that can damage the catalyst :ugh:
It's possible that they'll be replacing the #4 ignition coil & spark plug along with the air intake plenum seal...the seal allows water past the hood and it sits in the #4 cylinder spark plug hole corroding the ignition coil.
If the light flashes again, stop the truck & call roadside to pick it up; the dealer will take care of it under warranty. With any luck, they'll give you a loaner car as well :undecided

Thanks for the info. I did check all my plugs and wires....didn't find any corrosion.

The last time....amongst several other times that my TB was making a ticking sound....the fan clutch was either going or gone.....don't know, but they replaced it about 4 times so far.

He has the 5.3 not 4.2. Isn't the number 4 cylinder issue only on the 4.2's?

That's correct...my bad :duh:
He's bringing it to the dealer today, so we'll find out what's wrong later on

Yes I have the 5.3. Thankfully, it turns out that it was a misfire caused by a faulty spark plug wire.

I had the same thing start yesterday. Not really rough, but noticeable (considering that before you couldnt even tell the TB was on when idling). Now there is a slight vibration feel. Its constant, almost like holding onto the handle of a lawnmower (just not THAT rough).
No check engine lights. Oil is still good. No strange noises or smells anywhere. Other than the rough idle, runs good.
So I'm stumped.

Well i had occasional rough idlle for no reason. Just bought the truck 2 months ago with 135,000 k. Should i replace the plugs and wires. On a few very humid days i got rough idling.:weird:
