Hello all. I have a dumb question. I tried to change the air filter in my 02 Envoy SLE which we just got two weeks ago and so far I love it. Is there two or three bolts that hold the airbox cover on? It was getting dark last night when I attempted to take it apart and I can only see to bolts that hold it on but I can't budge it. I am fairly mechanically inclined and I sell auto parts for a living so I know where I can get the parts at a reasonable price. I am just putting in a stock replacement for now and will think about a CAI come spring. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Three bolts. Lower right hand corner, lower left hand corner, and up in the middle near the intake tube.

Thanks. The one I didn't see was the lower left hand. I'll have another look tonight. On the two I did see they were both stripped so I replaced them with some nice stainless ones.

First, welcome to the site

That bolt that you were unable to see is a pain to get to, so get your socket extension ready :m2:

Or a very very long screwdriver!

A regular philips head driver is fine just stick it in and get a feel of the screw heads locking in and loosing it. I do it blindly all the time... It's tight in the, but just wiggle the box a bit out.

Jman thanks for the heads up about the Volant having bolts, not screws. I think I am going to need to make a small repair kit to mount somewhere in my TB so I can do simple things if I break down. A socket, extension, a phillips and regular screwdrivers, and sockets and the like.

Thanks for the help. I got it out last night, no problem once I knew what to look for. I think that it still had the original air filter in it though.:o I would think that should help the old mpg.
