Has anyone got a JL Audio Stealthbox for their subs? It's the one that fits in the back along the side and is supposed to look stock.

I've been having the thought of either doing this or having something custom fabricated. I just got an excuse to upgrade my stock soundsystem, so that's probably next on the list of mods to do. :o

Yeah, I want to make something custom myself, but I want to use the measurements off of their box to get started with. I figure that modifying what they did into what I want will be easier than starting the process from scratch.

I was thinking about doing something like that this summer. I was gonna buy two uncarpeted boxes and work off of that. That way at least i know it will work.

Well, I already have a Kenwood box with two 10" subs in it, but it stands out like a sore thumb in the back, so I want the side ones to clean it up and also help them to not stand out as much. There's a guy that post pics of the job that he did at this site:

He put together a box like the JL Audio one only extended to the back seat, but I can't get the guy to reply to my email for more info on the dimensions. Anyways, looks like I'll have to just figure it out myself.
Oh, in the site he mentions using "MDF". What is that?

I have something like that custom built and fiberglassed to make it look stock.
Check it out:

It was a very similar procedure to the other link, but instead the box was built tighter into the quarter panel. It's a sealed enclosure with an Eclipse 10" Aluminum Subwoofer with a JL1/500 pushing it.

MDF is a fancy term for plywood. :o

Yeah...MDF is closer to particle board than plywood :)

Hey Work-n-Show, approximately how much did it cost you to have that box custom built?

I have one on order and waiting for it to show up any day now. Will let you know results as soon as i get it all hooked up. I hope it is the nice tight bass sound i am looking for. i have heard people say that it is powered and it is not. i ordered a JL 500/5 which is running my rears and the sub. the sub on the mono channel pushing about 250. it better sound good dammit!!

Sorry Wes, I just noticed I never answered your question. Sorry, I never even saw it.
The box has a medite frame covered by fiberglass and finished in vinyl. The install involved cutting the interior panel and some work to the space underneath as well. The project took 2 days and although I don't know exactly how much it was because it was really all part of a much bigger install, I believe it was about $500.
It houses 1 Eclipse Aluminum series 10" sub and is powered by a JL 500/1.

Do we have to actually register at that site to see the pictures?
