View Full Version : Signature/Profile Information

We encourage any and all members to make a signature including some basic information about their trucks, some major mods, and anything else that will help other TrailVoy Members know what you have. There are several examples of good signatures, some even include small pictures.
We would also like to see more people take advantage of the profile part of your User Control Panel (User CP). When you enter your location, it will show up in the top corner of every post near your join date and your post count, so other members know where you are located. Other things like your birthday, hobbies/interests, and your occupation are a good way for the members to get to know you. You could also list your chat screen names, and email addresses so that members could contact you if needed.
None of this is mandatory, but we would like to see more members completing these steps. If you are really brave, there is also a place in the profile area for you to upload a picture of yourself, which is really cool, because people are always trying to put a face and personality with the posts made by a member.
If anyone needs any help, or has any questions about this post, please feel free to send me a PM, or post in this thread.
Thanks!! :D

Yeah... It's always fun to see what people have... Don't forget that we all have access to the gallery... so post some pictures of your TrailVoys!

I think that sigs really clutter up the posts. I think it would be nice to have an info section in your profile where you can put all your mod info. I mean, its nice to see that stuff, but I don't need to see it every post...

Thanks Matt, I will take that as a compliment. (even though I dont know why, but I will)
I think once I get a few more things installed on my TB, I will revamp the sig and avatar with some cool pics. Hope to go skiing on Friday, and get some shots of the TB in the snow. :D I dont know yet if I will be carpooling or not yet though.

I also agree with Jimmy. I also like his idea of having a section in your profile where you can list mods.

It is a great idea, but "software limitations" are what you have to keep in mind. If something like that becomes available for the software that Tommy is using, I am sure he would consider it.
And as for the comments about the signatures clogging up the threads, I would half agree, but if it is done cleanly and in a small font, there shouldn't be a problem. For the time being, we don't really have any other means of displaying this information for the members to see, so the signature is the best way at this point :raspberry

This is what I was going to change mine too...
Good thing!

2004 TB LT
Emergency Strobes & LED's, 20% Tint, Signal Mirror Mod, Debadged....
And for Jimmyjam's sake...
you can ask me
about the rest...
because it might get cluttered up
here and take up too much room
for all the different modifications
that I wanted to write here!
But then again... does anyone want
to see my modifications?
But I do have seats... a stereo...
lights... oh... windows, yup, windows...
oh and one of those gear selectors!
I know I do after every post... I have
a very short memory and I sometimes
forget!
j/k fella!!!!

I was just teasing, Erik. It was just the way you had the sig configured that made it seem so to take up so much space. :p

I knew that, but was just too lazy to change the formatting around until I needed to add another mod to the list. No worries now, my sig is short!:D

I kind of like sig banners myself... They almost become your "face" on the board.

I cannot say that I agree with that. I believe the members avatars are more for that purpose. Nothing wrong with having a signature, but the ones that are too big seem to clutter up the forum.
The signature limit plugin is now active. Everyone's current signature will stay but all new ones will have to follow the new guidelines. This applies to all new members and if a current member modifies their signature.

So, you're not allowed to store a sig pic in your gallery??

Well, since ALL pics in your gallery have to be of your truck, technically you could, but then you would not be able to use it as a sig since it would be too big. On the other hand, there is no need to display a pic that is tiny in your gallery... So I guess "no" would be the right answer. There are plenty of free image hosting sites out there.

Takin your advice. Did mine & finally decided to add a pic. It's a pic of my very first & only nephew!!! He's only 4 months right now. 5 months come the 26th of this month.
