2006 TBSS two wheel drive with no get up and go. Off of the the line my truck seems very slow, but once it gets going it picks up pretty good. With the TC and ST systems off i try and brake tork i can barely break my tires loose and at times the tires dont spin at all and the truck just pushes forward a little. (and this is with both pedals to the floor) In a race situation i rev up to 2100rpm with the brakes on and most often the back tires start to spin slightly but when i floor it and let off the brakes the truck bogs down, tires stop spinning and then picks up and i take off. What is my problem? The dealer ran it through the scanner but all codes came back clean. Most people here dont know anything about TBSS and there is nothing to compare it to, in fact i just got into an argument with a shop manager that he didnt believe TBSS came in 2WD.
Basically the dealer said i didnt have a problem. Any suggestions, or is this just the way the trucks are, as i have only owned it for 4 months and now that all the snow melted i am noticing this problem.
Any other truck i have owned was able to do huge smoke shows with a brake tork, without 400 horse.

What you have is a case of Torque Management. All Trailblazers have it. It is supposed to check things from breaking and it does work. However we suffer in the performance end of it. Get a Tune and it will be all fixed. Check out the vendor section and you can find vendors who can help you out. Good luck!

Something is wrong. I have no tune and I can power brake (if this is what you are trying to do) mine and it will vulcanize the tires if I stand on it long enough. This is with the ST and TC off, if they are on it won't do it as well. Mine does seem a little doggish off the line though, but picks up quickly. Mine will not spin the tires off the line, it just kindof grabs and goes.
A tune will definectly help.

This is what you get with a 2200 rpm stock stall converter in a heavy vehicle and an engine that makes peak torque at 4200. Now you know why so many people are buying higher stall converters.

To stop what you are experiencing...Hold down the Traction Control Button on the shifter for about 10 seconds until you see Stabilitrac disabled on the DIC. Now go ave fun to your little heart's desire. You'll be needing tires sooner now though!

Ya both systems are most defidently dissabled, i learned how do that the first day after a failed burnout attempt. That is not my problem.

That's just the way they are. It's a very heavy vehicle with torque management. I had just a tune and was still a dog out of the hole. The heat also sucks all kinds of power out. Here in Florida in the winter I could just get a squeak out of it. Once it warmed up, forget it. The cam and efans has definately helped for me. Bottom line a stall and tune will most likely get you the off the line feeling you are wanting.

Not believing that the truck was just like that, i took it back to the dealer and they looked at it once more. They ended up replacing the mass air flow sensor, although it checked out during the scan the numbers were low just a bit. Wow what a difference that made. The SS really came to life, it picked up all through the rpm's and it even shifts harder now. I still dont think it is where it should be though, i had it out at the track today and ran 15.076 in the quarter for my best time.

I feel for you, and hope you find the problem. I had a new 03 2WD TB with the I6, and we were getting 10-12 mpg, and it was a dog to boot. The dealer NEVER could, or would, find what was wrong with it, we finally traded for a V8 Rainier, and its great, 21-22 highway, and quick. The one thing I know for sure, some identical vehicles are just plain quicker than others, 2 of the SS's we test drove were fast, one was just ok.

PM BigKahuna13, Billy. He had the same issue as you. It was a dog off the line. There is a problem w/ the drive by wire system.... The dealer changed pedals and the problem was gone. It was throwing no codes w/ his as well but he has driven more than his share of fast cars and knew there was a problem. I believe his developed though and was not always there.

15 seconds in the quarter mile!! Wow that seems very high. I have never run slower than a 13.8 with mine in stock trim. Remember to delete the jack and the spare. Lower tire pressure rear, raise tire pressure in the front. 1/4 to an 1/8th of gas. No cargo. You need to make that beast as light as possible.

What is the best E.T. for the TBSS with a Tune and CAI? Did your mileage also go up?

I have been told that the elevation here in edmonton alberta raises 1/4 mile times. My buddy just bought a SRT jeep and we went head to head, i ran a 15.0 @92mph and he ran a 13.9 @99mph. Both these times are slower then what you will see in a magazine for example. Perhaps thats not my only problem, but i did lose the spare and had a 1/3 tank of gas.

One, your MPH is low but not that low for being stock. Its a little low but....

Two, I'm more interested in your 60' time.

Three, you shouldnt be a full second off your buddies time if everything is running as it should.
