Simple easy gain for you mpg, remove that awfull muffler and resonator, First the muffler alone weighs about 60 pounds then the resonator which is another 30 then add about 15 pounds for all that tubing, I weighted the whole kit I had about 120 pounds total, then I weighed the flowmaster 70 dual and the piping 35 pounds total....

The spare tire I had was around 65 pounds too

I’ve got the 70 Series Big Block II 3.00"/2.25" C/DUAL, the sound is mellow, barely noticeable at idle, I have no resonators straight pipes, no droning on the highway, but it comes to life at wot,

Call me crazy but I did not change my driving habits, I went from 160 miles per 60lites to 205 miles per 60 liters, I guess the fact that the engine breathes better and has a lot less weight to drag around helps, I’ve also removed the spare, not because of my setup as it passes exactly where the magnaflow passes, it's just that it sits there and looks ugly...

I hope this will help anyone else

BTW I ordered my pcm for less tune, but did'nt get it yet, so i can't even imagine what will happen then....LOL

I know the muffler is Grey-Hound bus sized, but 60lbs?? REALLY?!? Plus there is not much to the resonator. Mostly a hollow chamber. I'd be shocked it the 2 weighed in at 90lbs.

seriously no joking here, i was amazed, when i torched it out, my friend and i were hurt in the process, i was holding the end that was going to the resonatoror when he finnished cutting the tube we did'nt have enough time to hold it before it colapsed on the floor, at that exact moment i said to myself i want to check how much this piece of **** weighs i still have them, i'll weigh them down some more and send pics...just too funny....

I wouldn't be surprised about the muffler since it is around 3 feet long and not hollow.

I looked at the exhaust when I was installing the rear shocks and can't believe the crimp in the tailpipe around the axle  No wonder we get such horrible mileage :) . I bet a tune and a good mandrel bent pipe would easily give 5 mpg.

I’ve also removed the spare, not because of my setup as it passes exactly where the magnaflow passes, it's just that it sits there and looks ugly...

I would seriously recommend some of this :D

:iagree: Ever since I got stuck in the middle of nowhere with a flat without a spare, I have always thought seven times before I remove the spare from my car.

I know that CAA (AAA) will tow you or give you roadside assistance, but, it's always nice to be able to throw on the spare and keep going rather than to get towed to god knows where and figure out how to get back to your spare that's sitting in the garage :m2:

But good work on the mileage.

Definitely not recommended unless you plan on getting rid of the tire & giving the tire guy a big tip :nono:

This stuff sits in the tire & coats the inside of the wheel causing future balance issues, not to mention the "swooshing" of the liquid sloshing around in the wheel (until you do bring it to have the tire broken down)

I've broken down tires after customers have used this stuff...& it $ucks :duh:

That stuff is VERY corrosive too. If you use it you need to break the tire down and clean it out or it will eat you steel rims. I would use that Green Slime instead. You have to take the valve out of the stem and have compressed air available though.

I plan on pulling the spare off again here, and run around all summer without it. Usually Im not far from home anyway, and I have AAA. For trips I do put it back on, vacations precious and Im not one to wait for a tow truck to come tow me home.

Who makes the cheapest muffler that will replace the stocker on the TB?

I did that today but this stuff had more of a molases (sp?) texture to it :hissy:

I agree...I changed tires for a few years back in the day and not knowing it's in there when you break the bead really sux. However......if i'm stuck in the middle of nowhere....no cell signal, and for some extremely rare case I have no spare with me....I will load the tire up with the fix-a-flat just to get me out of trouble. That to me is worth paying extra to the tire man, or cleaning my rims out or whatever. I wouldn't use it unless there was no option...but that option is with me.
