More stuff on the mileage for these V8's.

Before I purchased my PCMFORLESS computer, my DIC normally said I would get around 400 miles for the tank. After installing the computer & then having the brakes/rotors put on & the new TripleTreds, I have been driving pretty nice with it.....not quite a granny, but certainly not fast....& now my DIC is saying that I should be getting around 500 miles+- for this tank.
At one point it was telling me over 500, but after playing with a Hemi truck & getting frustrated in traffic yesterday, & flooring it about 1/2 doz. times to get around rubberneckers..... I am around 465+- miles per tank.
Maybe babying it, the new computer is adjusted for mileage over performance? Don't know....but if I do end up getting around 100 more miles per tank.....wooohooooo!
FYI, I always reset the trips & everything when I fill it up & I don't touch it until I fill up again. I have done nothing else different with the vehicle & my drive is still the same to work....so I don't quite know. The weather has been cool, then kinda hot & back & forth...so I don't know.......

I have been running 93 Shell......maybe I'll try the 89 Shell to see what happens...my computer is set up for dual octane ratings...

So what's your DIC telling you?

LOL, mine says 220mi range around town, says 280mi on the hwy but once I get driving it moves to over 300+mi.

City mpg: 12.1mpg (what my DIC says right now)
hwy mpg: 20.5-21 at 75mph

Range of 610 km after my last fill up today ($88.00) :sadcry:

I use the DIC mainly as a reference and not so much as the "truth". I reset Trip 1 each time I fill up and I write the miles on the back of the fuel receipt each time and I keep a calculator in the console to figure the MPG each time. Sometimes the DIC is close, other times not (it's easy to be off with so many variables)

Did you by chance change tire size? Keep in mind with larger tires your speedometer and odometer will turn slower. With smaller tires it will turn faster.

No, tire size is the same as stock....245/65/17.

It's just that I have been driving "nice" & I was just shocked that the DIC said 500+-

Weird still....that's why I was thinking that the new computer may be tuning itself towards mileage.........I'll see how it goes when I drain the tank down more.
I go back to work Sunday...(off Friday's & Saturday's) so I won't know until then or Monday. This time I will bring a calculator to see.
I never checked with this vehicle about the mileage that the DIC is saying I'm getting.
Watch....the things been lying to me all along & I am only getting like 10:hahano:

You have a larger tank than a SWB Trailblazer or a newer ext. Anyway, you have the Pre-DOD engine. The 25 gallon tank times the 20 mpg that is now possible from getting more power per gallon from the tune can give those results.

You must drive fairly easy on it since these engines don't give more than about 14-15 on average.

Great news though....P.S. How's the tune?????

Good point, I have an 02 so I got stuck with the 18.7gal baby tank (sucks for roadtrips). I still dont know if a tank swap is as easy as just swapping, I wonder if there would be issues with the sending unit.:undecided
