Hmmm interesting. I think that looks like the ones from Kuwait or wherever it was in the middle east that they were having custom headers made.

that headers is bahriani one and has been ordered by some kuwaiti guy :)
we still waiting the dyno chart
the last time i spoke to Trailblazin he said it does worth it and it puts some performance
however it still under testing

Yup those are the bahraini headers... should be tuning my friends ride soon and we'll get to see some real gains outta them!

Have they made any that does not require the catalytic converter to be removed?

I just spoke with a custom shop here in montreal, they have agreed to build the headers ONLY if there is a fair amount of interest, i have showed them the pics and some polls already, they are willing, but we must show them interest, i know most of the people here are in the states, so shipping them from canada to the states will prolly add another 75-100$ to the price, but this shop are specialized in high peformance cars, and they know what they are doing...

^ So what kind of price are they going to have? That's going to be the determining factor for most people.

05-10-2007, 12:00 PM
the prototype would cost me around 750cdn, once that one is done tested and true, they told me around 500.00 each, but if i show them that there is A LARGE interest, the price will go down upon big orders...so if we would to to a group buy of let's say 15-25, hopefully they would come out to 400cdn each i think....

if the headers worth it
i will order it ... not only me there is many ppl here at the gulf want to have headers for trailvoys
the price is fine even plus the shipment
anyway i`ve heard alot about tb headers dream guess what none of them came true :P
good luck

Well i've asked teh guy to start the design on mine. the only prob i am having is the pipe size, i do not want any backpressure issues, i've read that someone in kuwait had noe built and that he lost a lot in the low rpms....
i can't seem the find his thread....

yup that was me... they did 1.5" primaries... stick with stock size tubing on the L6... 1.25" primaries would be perfect... show us some pics when ur done

thats really great if they are strating the design on ur TB
but is there any chance for us? i mean for the international orders?
pjaneiro
05-14-2007, 10:32 AM
for the international orders they don't care, you would have to send them an email i guess, and they would charge accordingly for the shipping....but i don't see a problem, they specializ in parts for skyline's so, they are used to special orders...

400 CND = $360US i would def pay for those prices shipping and every thing...one question though are they designing long tube headers or shorties?

i have no clue, i just left them a gasket, some info on the firing order of the trail and told them i wanted the most power at low rpms and this was going to be a daily driver not a race car, they saw i had a gutted cat, but i told them i still need a flange there if i want to install a cat after....
I've been reading a lot on this and i think the best would be long ones 29 to 34", i'll give them a call and see what they are coming up with

they took the measurement and are making 2 models, a long one with 1.25 primaries of tuned lenghts between 29 and 32" in a 621 configuration like the stock manifold. because it's a i6 and there is limited space , they are running into some issues, i showed them the tones from kuwait, and they said that the perticular way they did those, it's even amazing the truck starts at all, i don't know much about this stuff but they showed me other headers, and i must agree, the ones showed in teh pic are crappy, anyways i'm still working my rich issue and as soon as they come up with something decent i'll take some pics before and once installed...

I see that Heddman advertises a header for the 4200 I6 but does not have a picture.
The stock header is a stubby Y type and the Cat is pretty close so I would like to see some proof of performance on an after market product. The stock system is pretty large and clean it may be hard to improve it beyond changing the muffler to improve flow.
In the old days some motors really loved headers and some motors would show little gain.
My old street hemi was very hare to improve on.

As I look around I see a ton of TBs, Envoys, Raniers, and Bravadas. There are lots of I6 4200 units. You would think we we could get a decent header on the market.
I don't know about you guys but this 6 is a fine motor and inch for inch is a great motor. smooth, great broad power band and will pull strong to 6200.
I love perfomance and think this is an all around great motor.
It is the father of the 5 cyl Canyon motor and the 4cyl Vortec.
at the strip the caviler with some work can pull 800 HP out of 4 of our 6 cyls.
What happened to the 5 liter dual Turbo version that won Pikes Peak.

if the headers is less than 900USD then am fine with it :)
ofcourse that doesnt count the shipment costs
anyway i`ve heard alot about TB headers for along time
so as i said before i will be expecting the worst :P

Update :
They want me to come in and see if the aluminum version will fit, they told me because the firewall is so close, they are having issue getting all six pipes lined up correctly into the 2 collectors, he told me he was starting to regret his decision, i remember a while back in feb or march i've seen a guy build his own, he too complained and bitched like hell, i even offered him some money to do one for me, he refused, I just hope all fits, for those of you wanting a short version, forget it, the way the other one was done, would cause too much turbulence, and it would loose all of it scavenging effect. like i said he sowed me the one made for the jeeps, NICE.....and then the one from the pictures i showed him...OMG....the short version would have to have pipes twist and bend on top of others, i don't know much, but just enough to understand what he meant about that have a negative effect on different temps in each pipe...
pm another note, he also told me, by using a long header, we would loose the drone, as that's what happens most of the time when he builds the long ones, could that be true ? Since i removed the cat the flowmaster 70 drones like a civic on steroids now, but the exterior sound IS AWESOME, Nice mellow tone, just like a small v8...

Can you clarify what the "short" version would be? If my numbers are correct, a tuned length header for ~4500-5000 Rpm would be around 32"-34".

Well i have some bad news, ! Forget about headers, I now know why NO ONE had made one, simple, no real life increase, they finnaly finnished one in alu, it's weird looking because of the bends they had to make, it's a 621 configuration using 1.25 primaries, once they had installed i felt......i felt.......nothing more than what i had, but the drone is gone, and the sound is gruntier, they are checking if i felt nothing because of the rich conditon i am STILL HAVING or because the stock manifold is doing a better job, i gave them the whole specs on the 4.2l engine, they were amazed at HOW CRAPPY this engine is, they are built tough strong and almost undestructible, but power wise, they told me, forget about turbos or superchargers without massive internal rework, now i must admit that i saw what they are capable of, they have skylines pushing 1100 hp at around the amount of torq, they have chargers, cuda's and 442 doing wheelies at wot, the tune alvin gave me is awesome, i showed them the tune file, and were quite pleased with what they saw, they can retune it a bit on the dyno to match my mods more adequately, but i am very disapointed by the header, it's gonna cost me abuot 500$ for a piece or aluminum tubing that's does nothing, i might get an increase of about 15hp at the wheels, but without the dyno testing i don't know, but for that price ? the finished project made in stainless would cost about 750$
And for my problem :
no one can't figure out why i am running so rich, and i am POSITIVE that all of us doing 10-12mpg have the same issue, I was driving around an 2003envoy for two days, while they had mine, same driving, same stops, same mileage, 16mpg....right now with all my mods i am doing 11mpg, befre the mods 10mpg...
I feel like a little boy who's disapointed come x-mas time

didn't you say the cat was gutted?
did you get a fix for the O2 sensors?
If not, the gutted cat will cause the unit to misbehave I think'

so far here's what i've done for my rich problem, installed 2 simulators in place of the o2's checked fuel pressure (fine), i am still running rich, i smell gas and that even after the truck is warm, so it's not an o2 sensor issue ( i think ), my scanner still says 40-60% in the long bank 2 fuel trimm, i'm at a lost....

its really disappointing however i still think the header should give more than that .... isnt away to check if we tune the car for the header so it would give more
as far as i know with any kit i install at my car i can get more of performance of it when its tuned :)
anyway i think finally i will stop dreaming about a header :)
