I assume this is a O2 sensor as thats what the code book says and the scanner, the code pulled is P0130 (O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1) so I assume this means the O2 is bad before the cat as apposed to after it? any help appreciated

Bank 1 Sensor 1. Yes before cat.
If you have the straight 6 it is obvious. V-8 would be drivers side.

I'd get the GM one from www.rockauto.com for about $50. Plug-and-Play so to speak. The universal I think you have to splice. I am going to replace mine soon.

alright thanks, well if the light popped on and i cleared it, should i still replace the O2 sensor or could it be the cause of the cat or what? I usually dont keep vehicles long enough to worry about most sensors or exhaust, mainly just fluids etc

I am replacing mine because the 1st sensor determines the fuel going into the engine and I have almost 86k miles on the truck. Some mfgs tell you to replace them at 70k for better mileage.
If you have low miles, the light stays off, or you are going to trade soon, I'd go with what you have.

I was going to ask, but if the O2 sensors or sensor is bad it can decrease your fuel mileage quiet a bit cant it?
part # 2131574 $27.79 (before cat)
part # 2131551 $54.79 ( in exhaust manifold)
which one of those was the one i need from rockauto? the 27.79 one is listed in position 2 but before the cat and the other one is listed as position 1 on the exhaust manifold.
thanks in advance

The one in the manifold is position 1. (bank 1 sensor 1)
