I work at Advance Auto, and a guy came in to get some oil, and mentioned it was his first oil change on his new 07 trailblazer. I of course told him about trailvoy, but he was also explaining to me how his was fully loaded and whatnot...and the only thing it didn't come with was the onboard air, that the SS's come with. I had never heard of them coming with their own air compressor, and frankly can't figure why they would anyway...although I guess just for day to day use, it's good for a flat. My question is...first, do they come with that...and if they do, would that be something we could rig up into a non SS TB? It would be so great for airing down, and airing back up again, and it would be factory.

I've never heard of it ... and it's not any sort of option on the Chevy build & price section on the website.

TB SSs and other GMT 360s that have the rear air suspension have the ability to air up tires and other air items. It comes with an air hose and gets the air from the same compressor that levels the rear air suspension.

It comes with an air hose and gets the air from the same compressor that levels the rear air suspension.Good for beach balls, and maybe topping off one tire, but from historical posts, the compressor has the same problem of all relatively small built-in compressors - it overheats and shuts off too soon. You really have to spend close to $100 or more to get a compressor that can get four large tires from 18 to 35 PSI in less than 20 minutes total. I got the Airlift Load Controller II for my air bags, and still wouldn't count on running it 20 minutes in >100 degree weather to air up tires. So Teebes and I bought additional compressors.

cool, that clears that up...I hadn't heard of it before. of course they don't put it to any practical use...you'd think as long as they're going to make it sort of dual purpose, theyd make it worth while.

Although I've never used the one on my SS, in the 90's I drove Bonneville SSE's which came with the compressor and hose. I helped out friends at work several times when they came out and found a flat tire. It worked well enough to get the tire up and them on their way to a tire shop.

...you'd think as long as they're going to make it sort of dual purpose, theyd make it worth while.Awww, come on. You know GM by now. :worried: The sales slime can claim you can fill up four tires before it overheats, but nobody ever verifies the lie before they buy the vehicle. And not having a worthy compressor isn't usually a deal-breaker. Look at how many of us (essentially all of us) got suckered into buying trailvoys thinking we could lift them, only to find out the truth later. :p

that's really my only regret about it...is not researching the aftermarket first. lesson learned, although if I had the choice again, I think I'd still get it anyway. The lifts available are sufficient for me...even though bigger is always kinda nicer. Anyone can go and buy a cheap wrangler and jack it up and throw some boggers under there and go anywhere offroad, it takes skill driving, and practice...it makes it fun knowing you can't go everywhere, but still trying. Kinda like, if you were playing a video game, but you were invincible...it might be fun for a while, but it gets old quick when you know you've already won.
