IMO, don't waste your time. On the new engines, those things don't do anything.
And if you feel anything it's in your head. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Unless someone shows me actual Dyno results or data from their personal vehicle.

I put one along with a K & N cold air intake. I did notice a difference in HP (althought I have no dyno proof). I'm not sure if the extra hp that I feel is from the intake or the spacer, but I like the whine sound I get from both.

My bet is the K&N Cool Air Intake helped!
Sorry for being a stickler about dyno results. I've learn from my own mods that it's 95% in your head unless you have some data or actual dyno proof. If you do allot of mods a G-Tech meter is your best tool.

Yeah, I have never Dyno'd my TB, and there are a lot of things going on in my head so who know's. Sounds cool though, I was told that the spacer spins the air or some crap.
:weird:

Yeah, tell me how spinning the air is going to help our new engines. By the time that spinning air reaches the injectors it's back to the same air flow generated in the intake manifold.
Now on the old setup pre 93-94', the fuel was injected before the spacer. So the air and fuel was mixed better giving you better air flow or burn supposedly. I know on the old carburetors it made a big difference. But not nowadays. I have personal experience with carburetors and some of the first fuel injected throttle bodies and seen improvements with throttle body spacers. But when ever I seen it used on the new direct injection engine…no noticeable difference.

Yeah, I'm not that engine savy, so I bought it and put it in. If anything it gives me a scense of accomplishment.

I hear ya, I find myself falling further and further away from knowing about these new engines....but I'm an engineer and in the carburetor business for small engines 1&2 cylinders...so I should stay up to date as much as possible.
Good luck with any decision you make. Just try to get some hard evidence that it’s going to do anything before you spend your time and money.

I believe money would be better spent on a tune and CAI.

PCMforless tune. Don't even need a CAI...

Ok, I figured I would try to back up my rant about having proof. I talked to my buddy today about his mod experience. He has a 1500 4x4 2005 5.3L.
His 1st investment was the G-Tech SS.
2nd was a flowmaster cat back system. I think 50series. This gave him an average +10hp increase. and -10ft-lb of torque at the low end until 4000rpm and then it came back to stock. And about -1mpg. he drives 90miles a day for work so he can get a good idea in a hurry if anything changed.
3rd was the Airaid CAI. 200-185. Almost dead on the the Airaid dyno claim +15hp and +15ft-lb of torque. 0mpg change.
So if you keeping track. +25hp and 5ft-lb torque in the low end and 15ft-lbs of torque at the high end. and -1mpg.
And lastly for now, he put the Airaid throttle body spacer 200-514-1. This did nothing for HP but he gained back 10ft-lb of torque at the low end only. and 0mpg.
So the total was +25hp, +15ft-lbs, and -1mpg.
IMO, not too bad. And I will also put my foot in the mouth. The Throttle body spacer actually did something for him. No HP gains but it brought back the low end torque that the exhaust stoled.
So it might do something for you....

Sounds like your buddy spent alot of money ona dyno. His cat-back exhaust does not jive with what mine did on my 4x4 5.3...

if that was not dyno proven numbers on the truck then i think those numbers are off, seems like ricer math to me this gave me that much and add this much for that mod, get it on a dyno and put each one of these thing on and see what numbers you get and if you get 25 hp at the wheels i would ne amazed, the g-tech is nice to do 0-60 or 1/4 mile for fun and i dont care how accurate they say it is "ITS NOT" i had one and sold it!!! this thing give you different numbers everytime and they are not close to each other. i got a 12.1 1/4 out of my SS and a 3.1 0-60 and 2 min later did the same thing and got a 14.5 and a 6.7 0-60. sorry for the rant but... throttle body spacer had one on my 4.2 and threw it outit was noisy and did nothing waste of 200 bucks or how ever much i spent on it

Nukedog,
He used a G-Tech ss which shows you HP and Torque curves. He would make three runs on a back road by his house and add the mod and make 3 new runs and compare.
ltz03,
He made these mods over a 1 year span. So he would just compare before and after. He didn't save the first stock run so who knows if it's acutally +25HP over stock. The math was done eactly as I explained. So you can take it how you want.
And as far as the accuracy of the G-Tech. You have me curious now. I owned the first model when it came out, G-TechPro and it was spot on. At least within a tenth of a second of the track slip. But I have no idea if the HP and Torque is accurate on the new SS version. That's going to be my next Thread or I'm goign to do a search and see what comes up.

All i got to say is - believe the G-Tech (a joke to us rel drag racers) if you want but a dyno and a slip is the only way you will know for sure.
PS - the dyno would have to be the same day as well.
