Towing with a rental truck?

I'm moving to another city, about 600 miles away this weekend. I have a 2003 trailblazer I am of course taking with me. I was going to rent a trialer from uhaul and pull it, but the one way cost is about 529 bucks, were as i can get a truck with unlimited miles for 300, plus 125 for a car dolley to haul the TB. Problem is, they are saying the TB is too heavy. IT weighs in at 5500 pounds, theyre telling me the most they let cars weigh when towing is 4050. What happens if I tow it anyway?

exceed limits and you could blow tires- lose control- jack knife, etc....
thats what I think... so then youd have a damamged trailblazer thatthe dolly wasnt able to handle

You can't tow a Trailblazer on a dolly, page 4-44 in the owners manual.

GM recomends 2WD Trailblazers be towed on a trailer only.

Also if something does happen, I bet Uhaul wouldn't cover the cost because they told you not to do it. The same might apply to your own insurance company.

Wow, imagine how much it would suck if you killed someone on the roadway, not to mention the risk to your TB.

relax all. I wasnt towing it on a dolly, i was towing it on a full flat bed. Ive decided just to rent a trailer to two behind to tb, so i did a quick tune up to it last night, so should be ready to go. anyone know where i can get a good transmission cooler?

umm why not just buy a trailer for that price then you will have it for all the little thing's you need to do like taking rubbish to the dump and moving furniture or fridges ect the local tsc has a small one for 575 canadian last time I was there it is surely not the best trailer in the world but at least you would alway's have it to use and I would much rather have it then a u-haul trailer that has not been maintained and overloaded by hundreds of people :) plus you could always sell it if you find you don't use it enough

That's making alot of sense .... as long as he has a place to store it. When it's yours at least you know what you have. Now Spong's trailer is a nice one! Groomed like his truck!

But seriously, those little trailers are very handy to have if it's alot of bulk and not a ton of weight. And about the same or less than renting twice.

Get any stacked plate design from a reputable company. Tube and fin is more bulky and a little less efficient. If you have time the PCMForless one looks really good but pricey.

get a friend to drive it and buy them a one way plane ticket for under $100

Is that a typo? Are you loading the TB too for moving???!!! Mine ('07 SS 2wd, 3gal of gas & no spare) weighed 4450lb on certified scale and I've probably dropped a few more lbs off in last few months. My '05 GMC Z71 extd cab wasn't that heavy either.
