Just wondering what kind of trailers you are towing and the mileage you get. Any driving tips to gain mileage. We tow a 24 foot hybrid travel trailer about 4500 lbs fully loaded. I find I get the most mileage at 50mph/90kmh.

4 place enclosed snowmobile trailer V-nose. I still haul at about 75 mph. but I also have the 3.42's which help out in that, but not so much accelerating.
in summer I tow a 21ft ski boat, but thats not a really far tow at all just a few miles every weekend.

double covered snowmobile trailer
18 foot Princecraft fishing boat
Don't notice the snowmobiles or boat much but NEVER pass by a gas station when towing the travel trailer. I always travel in 3rd gear and rarely exceed 100 km/h.

:hijacked: i have towed a small encloesed trailer full of furniture with very little resistance, also a 16ft boston whaler again that has little resistance. i have a question though of whether it would be plausible to tow a 21' pontoon about 250 miles or so both ways? do you think it could be done or do i need to get my dads silverado for a weekend?

Are you stock? I just purchased a 24ft Sun Tracker Pontoon Boat and was curious if I was going to have any trouble towing it or not.

Well... there have been alot of things hitched up to my Envoy... here's a list of what I remember... Only thing I ever had trouble with was my move back from milwaukee and that was a packing issue... As far as mpg goes, I'd say it drops around 1-2mpg for smaller trailers, 2-4 with larger open trailers, and a good 3-7mpg with large heavy enclosed trailers with decent wind resistance. Your best bet if you want to be fuel efficient while towing is to stick around 55mph...
21ft Glasstron Ski/Fish
Bobcat (skidsteer) on large flatbed trailer
'65 Plymouth Barracuda on flatbed car trailer (couldn't even tell it was back there)
4 Place enclosed v front snowmobile trailer (not fun, but it worked out)
6'x12' Enclosed U-Haul (towed great on the way down to milwaukee, 85mph no problem... was overloaded on the way back so it fishtailed the entire way!)
Utility Trailer with Polaris Sportsman 700
2 Place flatbed snowmobile trailer with 3 ATVs on it
These trucks (especially with the V8) will tow just about anything... I wouldn't advise pulling real heavy loads too often, but the occasional trip won't hurt. The biggest issue with our vehicles is how narrow they are... you'd have to get some pretty serious mirror extenders to safely tow anything large (especially enclosed snowmobile trailers!). For the enclosed trailer, Bobcat, and car trailer, I have an aftermarket brake controller installed that lets the electronic brakes on the trailer function... this helps a good deal when you get cut off by some jack@$$ in a little ricer...
Hope this helps!

I tow a 18.5' Sea Doo Utopia. About 2,600 lbs w/trailer. I average 15 mpg normally and 12.5 mpg at 60mph while towing. My mileage drops about .5mpg for every addtional 5mph.

Bone stock w/ 3.42 gears. I added an exhaust system, but that was for looks & exhaust tone, not for performance. my TB tows the boat just fine, but I avoid long uphills. In fact, when I move the boat to the Pacific coast in September, I'll likely hire someone with a 3/4 ton p.u. to tow her for me, I don't want to stress my TB with that long of a haul (about 300 miles) Your pontoon boat is likely about the same weight as my Sea Ray, or if an aluminum hull, maybe even a little lighter.

I tow a 17ft Hybrid Travel Trailer with a GVWR of 3500#. I probably come pretty close to maxing that out. I use a W/D hitch, sway control, and Prodigy brake controller. The truck has 3:42 gears. I get about 12/13mpg on the relatively flat Wisconsin roads and 9-11 towing through mountains. I typically drive between 60-65mph. Usually closer to 60. When I'm vacation I'm in no hurry. Let everyone pass me, it gives me more time to react to something going on.

this past winter i was towing a fully loaded 20 foot long uhaul trailer. I definetly felt that was back there. And the biggest reason i felt it was because my hitch does not fit tightly into the hole, moves and bounces around jerking my truck all over. Does anyone know how to correct that. Im bone stock, im guessing when i put my hd bilstiens in ill notice a bit of a diff. Also plan to get tuned very shortly.

I get about 12 MPG when towing, but I have a heavy right foot. :p

My boat weighs around 4000 lbs fully loaded. I towed it with my 2003 TB and never had any issues with it. Averaged around 12 mpg driving in third gear. Hopefully my 2007 will give me similar results.

Are those the new Acme suction cup tires that Wiley Coyote was telling us about. Great traction on the vertical walls. Now where is the rocket pack? :dielaugh::dielaugh:

Towed my parent's boat to the lake for them this weekend. Its about a 100 mile one way trip up there. I6 w/ 3.73 with Tune & KN Drop-in filter and we averaged 16-18mpg driving 60mph in 3rd gear. Was running pretty much at 2500 RPM the whole way. Tried it in D for a little ways but it shifted into 3rd while trying it so I just dropped it back to 3rd. Really wasn't any wind on the way up there, and we might have had a tail wind on the way back, but it wasn't much of one if we did. We didn't tow the boat on the way back home btw. They'll bring that back behind the 3/4 ton GMC and 24' 5th wheel LOL. Just figured it'd be safer to tow the boat for them on the way up.
The boats not huge, its a Lund Tyee 1750 Deep V w/115hp motor, but the cover was on and you could tell it was back there. Here is a pic of an older one to give you an idea:

According to the DIC, we averaged 19mpg for the whole 200 mile trip :woot::woot: Very happy with that! I do wish there was even less torque management taken off from the Tune, its still definately noticeable!
