I know it's not recommended, but whats the worse that could happen if I towed a 10,000 lbs boat 7 miles?
I think the SS has enough balls to move it..Especially over flat terrain..

Im thinking possible tranny damage and/or the lack of ability to control the vehicle while towing. 7 miles may not be a big deal, but to be honest, it does not sound safe to me.
Agreed, I am sure the SS has the power to move it, but that may not be a good enough reason to do so.
Does the trailer have brakes?

Worst that could happen? Tail wagging the dog! The boat could overpower the tow vehicle, you could lose control and roll your SS onto grandma, granpa and 2 grandchildren out for a stroll. Loss of innocent bystanders, your boat and your truck. :sadcry:
Ever seen a heavy boat pull an underpowered rig the wrong way down a launch ramp? Funny for all involved except the truck owner.
In all seriousness that is too much load for your truck. You will definately be able to get it going but the question is can you turn it and stop it. Is it really worth the risk?

yeah thats not really a good scenario! ha..
That's alot of weight we're talking about.... I did pull a 4500 lb. boat with a blazer xtreme.. only like 5-6 miles though.. I think that vehicle only had a 2k towing capacity..
I can prob find a friend that has a big truck if I really needed to.. I just wanted to unlease the power of the SS for a utility purpose -- you know, other than passing everyone on the road!

Man, that's heavy.....like others said, you should have plenty of power to pull it and I believe you have the same tranny as a suburban but you need to look at the tongue weight. Generally 7-10% of trailered weight will put you around 700 lbs or more, too risky without a weight dist hitch on your short-wheelbase TB, too risky period.

did you just get the boat? i hope you did not buy the ss to tow it? i have towed some bigger boats with my ss before my torque converter went in that was over the weight by a little bit and it was alright it pulled the boat up the very steep wet ramp with ease(i am awd) i drove about 10 miles and on the road was ok i just went slow. and i agree with others with the tounge weight if you could shift the boat back a little to lighten up on the weight and there was very little stop and go you might be ok but if it was my ss i would not tow 10klbs mabye 7500 like i did. if i were you use you buddys truck and save your ss for having fun at the track and blowing by those pesky imports!!!

I'd use my Dodge D250 3/4ton Cummins truck on something like that.
Trust me...I work for a large construction firm and I get to play with heavy equipment all I want. Which means I have to somehow get it to my house on a trailer. When you're towing 5 tons....thats nothing to play with.
I came close to losing a load like that once using an F150 2WD. It started pushing the rear end of the truck back and forth only going 45mph on a smooth highway. I just let go of the wheel and off the gas, no brake, and let the truck do its thing. It came out of it on its own. But could have easily went the other way. IT would have been a mess and I'd have lost a large ditchwitch trenching machine, a trailer and a truck.
Furthermore...the pucker factor is UNBELIEVABLE!!! DONT DO IT!!! Or you'll find out the hard way.
