Hey all,
I'm currently trying to get my MAC Cold Air Intake (CAI) installed in my '03 Envoy XL 5.3. Anyways, when I was taking apart the old intake, I had to disconect what i ASSUME is the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAS). It's a unit that was between the airbox and intake, contained a metal "mesh" and a few wires, and was connected to a wire harness near the engine. The new intake doesn't include anything like this, and I was told by my brother that the engine will not run properly, or at all without this sensor installed. On the other hand, I've heard through the many CAI threads here that 05 and older models supposedly do not have a mass airflow sensor. Any help here would be amazing... THANK YOU!!!

You are going to need it.... if you have it use it. Did you specifiy the engine/yr when buying it? I have an 07 and tried to make a "hole" for it in the intake but it' Threw a CEL. So i have to improvise unit I can get a full intake with MAF provisions. I only used the section contianing the MAF and the rest in not stock

JAy

Do you have any pictures?

Well, I finally got it installed... and people say it sounds good... at least the cop that pulled me over did...

Anyways, I ended up doing some slight modification to the system to allow it to fit and integrate the stock Mass Airflow Sensor... I took pictures throughout the install so hopefully I'll have an install article written up soon.

As for the cop... well... aparently they don't like it when you put your foot to the floor around a corner and light em up... :duh: I got a $186 ticket for "Exhibition Driving" which sounds alot more like a profession than an violation to me... After he gave me a ticket, he also gave me a written warning about my exhaust...

"well, you're obviously aware you have an illegal muffler on there... you're not supposed to be able to hear it more than 70 yards away... and that thing roars..." :woot:

It's probably a good thing I didn't mention to him that I had NO MUFFLER on it... "No officer, I do not have an illegal muffler on here... i don't have any muffler on here..."

Oh well... lesson I learned today: Exitement about new mods is good... expressing it within city limits is bad. :nono:
