I recently installed my Volant Cold Air Intake, and ever since my gas mileage has been worse then ever. Before my intake I was getting about 18.5 to 19.5. Now I am getting about 16.5 to 17. Has anybody else experienced this, or do you have any ideas how to improve this.

My km/L went from 5.4 to 5.2 I don't know why though. Maybe it's because you get a heavier foot coz of the addictive sound :undecided

That's very strange...

The only thing that I could think of is that if you are allowing more air into the engine, that would require more fuel to mix with it - Did you remove the resonator, or did you keep it on?

But I wouldn't think that you'd get more air delivery, but rather less air restriction/better airflow

What filter were you using before hand... just out of curiosity?

I definately agree with you. When I had my car and installed my intake I was wasting alot more gas cuz of making sure I heard that nice sound. But when driving normally I did save a noticable amount of gas. How have you been driving? Better airflow wouldn't mean less mpg; it would actually mean more. Atleast that's what I believe.:m2:

The weather could have an effect on your mpgs. Mine has dropped noticeable over the last week as it has been getting colder out. Your engine doesn't fully work until it gets warmed up.

i have noticed 1-2 mpg less with the k&n cai no matter how i drive. even tested at 65mph on freeway. i am thinking of going back to stock with only k&n drop in :)

I got the K&N CIA and I went from 12MPG to 16MPG with my Leaden Foot.

Prior to my Volant intake I had a stock setup. Maybe the weather does have something to due with it, it has began to get rather cold here in Indiana. I also don't notice a considerable performance boost, I mainly installed the Volant to improve my mileage, perhaps I am going to have to install the throttle body spacer, and a free flowing exhaust. We will have to wait and see.

Mine also went down but I figured that it was just because I made my own CAI, w/ a K&N filter

You won't have to replace your air filter anymore, and it helps by opening air flow, so i say go for it
